I had an issue with a water pump. I bought a new water pump for them to install. He said it may not be the water pump. He said it was another part, a house. I could not find the house, but he did. He called to have me to pick it up and when I did, antifreeze was all over the ground. He wanted to charge me $150 for the water pump install when I told him to put it in the first time. It started to leak again, but slowly, and it was not properly. I took it to them and I asked why didn't he fix it like I asked the first time. He told me it was my engine block that was cracked and he wanted more money. My car started smoking due to the lack of antifreeze. I filled it and it continued leak all out. It seems he is trying to charge me for items that wasn't wrong with my vehicle. It should have been fixed the first time. I had a diagnostic done before taking it to him and I only needed a water pump.

Back in November, there was water in the vehicle that froze up. This issue did not surface until it was warmer. The damage was due to an unrelated issue with the work done. The best way I see to resolve this is to just issue the consumer a refund and go our separate ways. I will refund $350 by check.

I would like this reopened.  I have not cashed the $350 check.  My vehicle did not have that issue before sending it to him.  I want for him to pay me to get it fixed.

The customer was in on Thursday afternoon so we could explain what happened to his vehicle. He contacted us today (Friday)and we are expecting him to bring the vehicle in on Monday.

He told me he's not able to fix it.   Now the center block is cracked.  He was supposed to get it fixed by another shop but now he wants me to sign papers on it.  It wasn't cracked when I took it to him.  He needs to pay for it and any other damage he caused.

We have attempted to make things right with ***** ********. He was refunded a check for $390.00. The total amount of the work that was done was more than what ***** had paid. He did not have enough money to cover the two invoices and only paid $325.00. The refund check was written for $65.00 over what he had paid.  Not only did he not pay both invoices in full but the refund check was written for the full amount of both invoices. We over paid ***** for his refund. He was also given an additional $300.00 in cash. He accepted both the check and cash and walked out the door. ***** cashed the check on 03/29/2022. We have had two machine shops look at repairing the crack in the engine block. Both machine shops were unable to repair the crack. ***** was made aware of this. ***** **** was going to attempt to repair the crack ourselves but wanted him to sign a waiver saying that it may or may not work and ***** **** would not be held responsible. We also wanted the waiver signed so that he was aware of this. ***** refused to sign the paper; therefore, we did not move forward with this attempt. The only reason we were doing this was not to accept fault as we did not crack the engine block but to keep the peace between our business and *****. There was nothing we did to cause the crack in the engine block. The crack happened due to excessive water in the coolant system during cold temperatures.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I don't mind him fixing it but I refuse to sign papers.  He can pay me for the cracked exhaust so I can get it fixed.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ********

We are unaware of an issue with a cracked exhaust as this was never diagnosed by our Auto Repair Shop. We are willing to repair the crack in the block, but we will not do it without a signature from *****. We need a signature from ***** so that there is proof that he acknowledges the circumstances of the repair.

      Hello,

I just spoke with you on the phone in regards to a BBB complaint. If you could add this to the previous conversations that would be greatly appreciated. We are wanting everything documented for future reference.

***** called ***** **** **** ***. on 04/19/2022 stating that he will not sign the document we presented before him to fix his vehicle, and that we can pay him $300.00 and we won’t hear from him again. I told him this was extortion and that our next step is to turn this into a legal matter. He hung up the phone. This is the latest conversation we have had with ***** in regards to Complaint
