ON JULY 3RD 2024 I WENT TO SPRINGFIELD SELECT AUTOS INC AND BOUGHT A 2013 SURBURBAN CHEVROLET 4 DOOR FROM THE SALES GUY **** ****** IT WAS A NICE TRUCK I TEST DROVE IT WENT DOWN THE STREET IT RAN GOOD I WAS IN ABOUT 10 MIN SO CAME BACK PURCHASED THE SURBURBAN HE TOLD ME PRICE WE NEGOTIATED A PRICE I NEEDED A WORK CAR FOR THAT WAS DEPENDABLE FOR MY FAMILY SO WHEN I GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER ABOUT 35 MILES THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE TRUCK STARTED RUNNING BAD IT WAS REVING UP BUT WASNT GOING ANYWHERE I THOUGHT IT WAS RUNNING HOT BUT IT DIDNT RUN HOT AND IWAS ALSO MAKIN VIDEOS OF WHAT MY CAR WAS DOING TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO **** SO ME AND MY SON AND GRANDKIDS WAS ON THE HIGHWAY JUST TRYING TO GET HOME SO THE TRUCK ENDED UP STOPPING ON US AND I HAD TO GET A TOW THAT NIGHT SO I CAN GET IT HOME I ENEDED UP TALKING TO **** ABOUT I TOLD HIM HIM WHAT IT WAS DOING I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO HIM AND **** SAID HE WAS GOING TO TALK SO SOMEONE ABOUT THE CAR SO ENDED UP GOING TO GET THE CAR LOOKED AT THEY PLUGGED A DIVISE IN THE CAR AND CAME UP WITH 2 CODES ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND MODULE SO I CALLED **** ABOUT THE SITUATION AMD HE SAID AGAIN HE WAS GOING TO GET BACK WITH ME SO A FEW DAYS GO BY AND I CALL **** AGAIN AGAIN ASKING HIM WHAT WAS WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THE TRUCK BECAUSE ITS A NICE TRUCK AND ALL I WANTED HIM TO DO IS LOOK AT IT TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR GIVE ME SOME MONEY BACK SO I CAN GET IT FIXED I PAID $11,500 CASH FOR THAT TRUCK AND IN 2 DAYS IT STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS I KNOW IT DIDNT HAVE NO WARRANTY BUT I ONLY HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS AND STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AND THE ILLINOISE LAW REQUIRES THAT THE VEHICLEWILL BE FREE OF A DEFECT IN THE POWER TRIAN COMPONENT FOR 15 DAYS OR 500 MILES THE POWER TRIAN COMPONENT MEANS THE ENGINE BLOCK ,HEADS ,ALL INTERNALENGINE PARTS OIL PAN AND GASKETS ,WATER PUMP TORQUE CONVERTER TRAINSMISSION PARTS INTAKE MANIFOLD I ASKED **** COULD THEY LOOK AT SO THEY CAN FIXED THE PEROBLEM **** SAID IT WAS SOLD AS IS AND HE NOTHING HE COULD DO HUNG UPBusiness response

Better Business Bureau or whom it may concern, we received your letter concerning a complaint from
***** ******.
**** had spoken with the customer concerning the issues he was having in regards to the 2013
Chevrolet Suburban.
At the time of sale Mr ****** did sign the bill of sale showing the purchase was done AS IS NO
WARRANTY. The miles at the time of purchase was 186850, therefor the 15 days or 500 miles
warranty does not apply to this vehicle.
Springfield Select Auto's is saddened by the issues that Mr. ****** has experienced. Unfortunately
there is nothing we can do to assist him.Customer response

Well I have a lawyer since there not trying to fix the problem well I thank the BBB FOR TRYING TO HELP I REALLY APPRECIATE IT THE GUY **** I THOUGHT WAS A STAND UP GUY WELL I SEE NOT AND IM GOING TO DEAL WITH HIM HOW I DEAL WITH SITUATIONS LIKE THISInitial Complaint

My husband and I bought a used car from this dealership. We also got the warranty that they highly recommended. There was a check engine light on and they scheduled a date to fix it. We got the car back and the light was off but they did not tell us what they fixed. He had the car 5 months and has now been without a car for almost 2 months because it needs a new engine. Warranty place is refusing to cover it as it has sludge and varnish in it. Have went to business as well as talked to the manager ***** many many times. He was supposed to be helping us with this as it has only been 5 months and clearly the engine was already in bad shape as we have had oil changes as needed and the adjuster that looked at it said in no way could it be our fault. ***** was supposed to be working with his mechanic to help us to fix this problem but it has been weeks since I have heard from either of them. The cost to get a used engine put in at the repair shop we took it to is 5,600. The last time I went in and spoke to ***** he claimed he would try to have his mechanic help us and let us make payments on the work. He also told me they no longer use the warranty company because we are the third engine claim they have denied recently. Which leads me to believe they are selling bad cars and they know it, that’s why they recommend the warranty. My husband is now making a payment on a car he has only driven 5 months and can no longer drive untill we can pay the 5,600.Initial Complaint

I would like to file a formal complaint against Springfield Select Autos. I put $2000 down on a vehicle on June 2, 2022. I have never had the vehicle for a consecutive 2 weeks even because there were repairs to be done (which we discussed at the time of my down payment and agreed they'd be fixed and no check engine light on by the time I picked up the vehicle the following weekend). On July 23rd, I took the car to ********** myself for a 2nd opinion where I paid $300 in diagnostic and oil change fees. Several repairs were recommended by ** and Select Autos chose to instead take the car and have their mechanics work on it because it would be cheaper. I have not had this vehicle since July 23rd, 2022 and have been forced to pay my car note of $312 each month while being told if I don't it will adversely affect my credit. My entire reason for leasing a vehicle WAS to better my credit. so I am keeping up with these payments. I have now paid over $4000 on a vehicle I haven't driven more than 1 week. Select Autos has been keeping me in a loaner vehicle but has recently taken their loaner back and is now saying they are being audited so have to keep the vehicle on the lot until they are done with the audit. Per **, who has the vehicle now after Select Autos said they couldn't fix the repairs- the cost over $14,000 and the vehicle was only for sale for $10,988. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of because I'm not from here, nor do I have much experience with leasing vehicles, this being my 2nd ever. Please help. Something illegal is happening at this car lot and I do not want to keep quite about this. I would love to just get my money back and go purchase a vehicle elsewhere but Select Autos told me last summer that isn't an option and I have to pay since I already agreed to the contract.Business response

The complainant purchased a vehicle outright, this is not a lease. The complainant purchased a warranty on the vehicle. This complaint should be forwarded to the warranty company.
