On 01 May 2024, U-Stor-It debited $105 for a storage unit, where my rent is $89. On 02 May 2024 I received something in the mail (addressed to my PO box) from some insurance **mpany I had never heard of. I almost tossed it in the trash thinking it was junk but I opened it & read something pertaining to my storage unit. I went to the storage facility to ask abt the money deducted out of my acct & the insurance letter. The staff said they sent a letter to my street address re: something abt my insurance. I already have renter's insurance, which they have on file, but they signed me up for some insurance I never authorized, nor the extra payment out of my checking acct. I told them I never received a letter (all **rrespondence from this facility has **me thru email) & that I have a PO box for mailing for a reason. I have a **mmunal mail box & a neighbor that shares that mailbox I had to go to **urt to get a restraining order on. The staff said they don't mail to a PO box & that they don't even have my PO box on file. I asked how the insurance ** had my PO box to mail a letter to then. They said they did their part mailing the letter, I said no they didn't for not mailing to an address I would actually receive my mail at. They refused to give me a **rporate number, they said "everything is handled @ the facility level." For a chain of facilities, I find it ludicrous there isn't someone to bring a **mplaint to. I am a disabled veteran on a very limited in**me that this facility is scamming money from. It's ridiculous this excuse they use that they "don't mail to a PO box" crucial info related to my unit, especially when I have insurance already on that unit. What if I was homeless? They're going to use that as an excuse as some backdoor way to unlawfully take money from someone? That is NO way to do business! I want the charges I did not authorize reversed, @ the very least.
