I've managed my school carnival since 2016. For our 9/7/24 event, we used Freedom Fun USA in ******, IN, for the first time for inflatable bounce houses and games. Initial communications were good with **** ****** (mgr/owner), starting 4/17/24 until we finalized the quote in June. We booked 3 bounce houses & 3 interactive inflatable games, with their staff running the games from 3pm-7pm.Freedom Fun requires half payment to book. On 6/14/24, I agreed to pay half of the total $2584.45, which would have been $1,292.23, but I was mistakenly charged the entire amount. Freedom Fun also requires full payment 3 weeks in advance, so I told **** to just mark me paid in full.Once I paid, communication deteriorated, with long response times, multiple follow-up emails or even calls. **** said they'd set up between 1:30pm-2:00pm. Twice, I said that seemed too late, but he assured me they'd be ready for the 3:00pm start. On Saturday, 9/7/24, he called at 2:12pm to tell me he'd be there soon. He went to the wrong parking lot, even though I told him where to enter during our last phone call. He wasn't able to start unpacking until approximately 2:30pm. He wasn't prepared for wind gusts, as they don't stake inflatables and only use sandbags, which is dangerous in high winds. They created chaos and a dangerous environment, setting up and troubleshooting around kids well after the event started. It was close to 4:00pm before everything was operational.On 9/9/24, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the set-up and late start, and I requested a partial refund, since we paid for 4 hours but did not receive 4 hours and they disrupted our event and made it unsafe. I did not get a response, so I followed up 9/12/24 and said I'd be filing a BBB complaint if I didn't hear from him by 8am 9/13/24. He emailed 9/12/24 and said he'd get back to me later that same day, but he didn't. I am requesting a 25% refund of $646.11 because we only got 3 full hours, out of the 4 we paid for.
