I have been a customer at ********************** since 2016, and have raved to friends and family and recommended them countless times. I am not sure I will continue doing that after the experience I have had this week. A scammer contacted me on 9/12/2022 impersonating PFCU; they had somehow cloned their phone number and caller ID to match PFCU. The scammer was convincing and deceived me to gain access to my bank account (they asked me to verify my identity with the last four digits of my social security number and date of birth). They stated that there were fraudulent charges on my account from various purchases that I had not made while I had been traveling (I have had legitimate fraudulent charges on my card before while traveling, and the phone call was very similar to the one I had with a legitimate PFCU representative in the past, leading me to believe the call was legitimate). The scammers then transferred $1500 out of my savings on Monday and $1500 on Tuesday for a total of $3000 transferred out of my savings account (and stated that those transfers were additional fraudulent charges that they were handling). I called PFCU on Wednesday after being suspicious of the transfers to discover that I had never had any fraudulent charges on my account and they were scammers gaining access to my account. PFCU as a result essentially blamed me for not hanging up the phone and calling back to be sure, and said that they had sent an email out a few months ago regarding scammers. They said it was basically impossible to recover the funds and that I would have to file a police report and that was that. I asked multiple times for support, for Purdue to call the other institutions to freeze the funds, etc., and PFCU basically refused and did not offer me any additional help save for a screenshot for the police. I am infuriated that nobody from PFCU seems to care that $3000 has just been stolen from me and they seem to be more concerned with covering their own backside.
