On May 18 022 I texted ***** (the owner) and told him the wood pillars on the porch he replaced was splitting and could he come and look at it. He texted me back and said sure could you send me some pictures. I sent the pictures, and he texted me back and said to apply some sort of stain. I texted him back and asked if he could please come and look at it. He texted me back and said "Yes. I will when I am in the area next time. "That text was May 24,2022 I have not seen or heard from him since. I am wanting to replace the 2 pillars. Thank-You ******** ********

Hello ********.  We are sorry that we were not able to re-inspect your pillars in a timely manner.  As previously mentioned and discussed, the splitting seen in pressure treated lumber is part of the naturally occurring process when it dries, and is called "checking."  It does not affect the structural integrity of the posts.  We have completed another thorough inspection of both posts on your property to ensure they had not worsened.  All splits are vertical, and none of them go all the way through the post.  Rest assured, they are very solid, and do not need to be replaced.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I had another company come out and check the wood and they said it was not done with cedar wood. It was done with pretreated wood which is a lot cheaper. He also said there is to many cracks that showed up in the wood within 6 months. He also told me that paying over 4,000.00 for this project it should have been done with the cedar wood. He also stated that at some point this will give me some problems. I don't know when ***** was out there to recheck the wood. I Asked the person that there all the time and he said he haven't seen anybody.

      Regards,

We understand your concern.  If you would like to submit documentation from a certified structural engineer, stating that the structural integrity of the posts are currently compromised, we would be happy to replace them.  The original scope of work, that included much more than just replacing the posts, did not state or include the use of cedar posts.  If you would like to see what the upgrade cost to replace the existing 6"x6"x14' posts to cedar is, we will gladly submit an estimate for that.  Additionally, if you need the original estimate or paid invoice reflecting an amount less than $4000, we are more than happy to resend those to you.  **** was out for a re-inspection on 8/15/22 around 2:00pm.  Thank you.
