Purchased a new **** *** Cadillac in May of 2017. After 40,000 miles the transmission started shuttering and they changed the fluid and used a heavy duty fluid that is used in the ********. That worked until I have 87,000 on car and now it is doing the same thing. Now they want me to pay 600.00 to change the fluid again to get it to work right again. I feel that Cadillac needs to correct the defective transmission instead of patching it up to last a few more miles. I seen an article where Cadillac has had problems with these transmissions in the years of 2015 thru 2019 where they have to add an additive to the fluid to get it to work right. It is a shame to purchase something new and pay the kind of money that they ask for it and then it doesn’t hold up to what they project to.Customer response

The fluid change *** ******* is questioning is considered routine maintenance to ensure proper operation of his transmission. Cadillac recommends this service every 45,000 miles. We initially performed this service on 08/07/2019. No transmission shudder was reported after. He is due the second transmission fluid change, (as is stated in his owner's manual), as he approaches 90.000 miles. We are confident that the shudder he experiences will disappear as this routine maintenance is specifically designed to alleviate the situation. We see no reason to perform this maintenance at no charge as it is recommended by the manufacturer, and the customer was aware of the maintenance schedule when he initially purchased the vehicle.
