I went to the Ultimate Vein Care Center/Baptist Health Medical Vascular Surgery, located at 4003 Kresge Way, Louisville Ky 40207, on July 30, 2024 for a consult on treatment for spider veins. I had been a previous patient there in 2019, and 2021 under *** ******. For the previous visits, my consult visits were free to review the options, then I paid for the treatment option I wanted. I never tried to use my insurance since it was considered cosmetic, and I understood treatment wasn’t covered. This time, they scheduled an appt for their nurse practitioner * *********. I went to discuss the 2 treatments I know are available since I’ve had treatment in the past. I told her I wanted to think about which treatment I wanted since she didn’t recommend sclerotherapy this time (that’s what I did previously) but laser treatment. I was with the NP for about 7 minutes. The following week, I got an email notification of a bill for $111.80. Originally $172 with a $60 discount. I called the billing office to ask why I received a bill for just a consult visit when I hadn’t in the past. The billing person explained that Baptist Health took control of the practice in March and that’s their practice. I asked if that amount would be deducted from the treatment costs I would get, and she said no. No one told me the practice had changed to be owned by Baptist, or that now the consultation visit was no longer free but a full billed price. Since this was not transparent, I do not believe I should have to pay for this visit. And the fact that it was such a short visit where no service was provided other than to discuss my treatment options (which I already knew about since I was a previous patient), seemed to be unnecessary and just a want to fraudulently collect money from me. I would like the bill corrected to an adjusted amount of zero.

I had a consultation with place of business listed April 27th and schedule two future appointments in the fall which mandated 100 for each appointment as a place holder just in case I “no called no show”. Come May time, I decided to go with another physicians office and called Uktimate vein Care for a refund of my 2 deposits. They informed me it would take 30 days. I have done this 2 more times and each time I call, they have no documentation of me calling and I get the same story “yes we will take care of it, allow 30 days. This to me seems very fraudulent in nature to take peoples money and not return after no services rendered when I was informed I get my money back since these Dow payments were just placeholders to prevent no call no shows. I called months in advance to cancel appointments and I’ve called office multiple times

      07/18/2022

      Good Afternoon:

          I am responding to the complaint id # ******** from ****** ****.

Ms. ****** deposit has been refunded prior to receiving this complaint letter.  The deposit is for holding the time scheduled for the patient.  The deposit is then applied to the services which are scheduled.

Apparently the 1st time Ms. **** called for a refund, the request was never forwarded to the bookkeeping department for refund.  When she called the 2nd time on July 6th, 2022, the refund request was forwarded to the ********** and has been completed.  I do apologize for the refund not being processed when she requested it with 1st phone call.  The complaint has been resolved per the customer's request.
