    Pattern of Complaint:
BBB has received complaints from customers who claim to have ordered merchandise advertised as American but received it with a tracking issue from other countries, often leading to incorrect items that didn't fit. Despite wanting to return the items, customers were offered only a fraction of their purchase price back, or could not get in touch with the company. BBB has contacted Suibstantial and the company has not responded.

This company was advertising “North Carolina strong” sweatshirts supposedly to help the hurricane Helene victims. This was not the case. I received the sweatshirt and it’s nothing like they advertised and I’ve requested a refund which they are refusing. This company is actually based in china and the item was shipped from there.

The retailer attempted to claim that all funds from clothing purchases were going to hurricane relief for NC. After the transaction, the company (which I believed to be from Louisville KY) processed my payment in British pounds. I believe they are scamming people believing they are buying items to support hurricane relief efforts and instead are scamming people and keeping the money.

On November 7, 2024, I purchased a shirt from Suibstantial that arrived too big. After contacting their customer service team, instead of providing a return address, they attempted to offer me a small compensation of $3 - $9. As documented in our email exchanges, they have failed to address my legitimate return request. Their reluctance to facilitate the return of the defective item demonstrates a complete lack of regard for customer satisfaction and business ethics. I am seeking your assistance in resolving this matter by compelling Suibstantial to provide the correct return address for the shirt and ensuring that they handle this situation with the professionalism expected of any business. Below is a summary of our email conversation to provide context to this issue: *Email from ************************ – November 7, 2024:* “We appreciate your support and the pictures. The return process for international purchases often consumes time, energy, and financial resources from both buyers and sellers. Therefore, if the problem with the goods is not major, or there are only minor defects, we highly recommend that you keep the goods. At the same time, we are willing to pay some compensation. What do you think of $5? If you have better suggestions, please contact us for free.” *Email from me – November 8, 2024:** “No thank you, I’ll be returning the shirt.” *Email from ************************ – November 8, 2024:* “Thanks for your reply. If you would like to return, the shipping fee may be very expensive to you. So how about we refund you $3 as compensation and you keep the products?” *Email from me – November 8, 2024:* “I’m just want to return my purchase. Please provide the necessary address.” *Email from ************************ – November 8, 2024:* “We are sorry for the inconvenience. We have applied the situation many times with our manager. That’s the best we can do for you. Hope you can accept it. Please advise. Have a nice day!”

Like many of the other reviews, this company is a scam. I should have realized when the name of the company was misspelled - Suibstantial vice Substantial. I received the items I ordered (2 of the same item but in different sizes) after a prolonged period of time. The tracking number indicated the items were coming from overseas vice the US as promoted. The material was inferior and the color was not as advertised. The Suibstantial website is now blocked and reported as a scam with no way to contact the company to seek a return/refund.

I purchased a sweatshirt from this company through an ad on ********. They claimed they were raising money for those impacted by Hurricane Helene (my hometown). The first problem was they overcharged me by $10 from the receipt I had. The tracking was showing my package in Denmark when I received the item from Chicago? It is not the same item, horrible quality, incorrect sizing, and after multiple emails and messages on FB messenger I still haven’t heard anything from them!

Ordered a Football Jersey on 9/21/24 in my normal size. The cost was $26, but they charges my Visa $42.74. Item was extremely big. Contacted the company via email for a return address. They refused to give me an address & wanted to ‘compensate’ me $3.00 for my return plus keep the item. I refused. We continue to go back & forth with this issue with no resolution. They do false advertising in their ads. They are not located in the USA as indicated but rather in Shenzhen, China. I thought I was ordering from a Company in the USA. I’m sure there’s not much that can be done at this point, but to have a so called company scam their customers is infuriating! I should have read the reviews before ordering (my mistake), but that’s hindsight at this point. I noticed other individuals have been scammed out of a lot more money than I have. It’s not so much about the money anymore but the principal. I just don’t want other individuals to be scammed out of their money as I have been. Is there a way to prevent them from advertising on social media? Thanks for allowing me to vent!

This seller dupes customers into thinking they are buying a knitted sweater when in fact it some type of printed garment. You won’t receive the nice heavy knitted sweater the show in their ads - you will (after waiting a long time) a flimsy garment with some sort of fake printing that doesn’t even remotely resemble the garment in their ads. What a ripoff! They obviously are aware of the scam they are performing but I believe they will make I difficult if not impossible to get a refund. I saw the ad on Instagram and purchased 3 “sweaters” - all garbage! I have ontactedthem and of course no response. WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!
