My husband damaged our SUV during the first snow storm in January 2022, and we didn’t get our car back till February 2023! It was a very minor crush where engine was not damaged, all we needed was a new bumper, new light and hood. Insurance paid out immediately, and the owner lied to us and told us that he will take care us, we were being naive to have the insurance paid directly to the owner. After receiving the money, the owner avoided answering our calls, texts, pushed back due date no less than 15 times, until we were ready to get a lawyer and filed a claim. I have to commute to work everyday, so I had no choice but purchased another vehicle. When I finally got my vehicle back after one year, I lost $5000 in resale value. After picking up the vehicle, the owner keeps on messaging us on additional $500 cost and have never compensated us or apologized for holding our vehicle for over a year.
