I am writing to file a formal complaint against Republic Finance regarding their unethical and predatory lending practices. On April 19, 2024, I paid my loan with Republic Finance in full, based on the payoff amount listed on their website, which was $2,445. Today, I received a bill for $61.87, claiming it is interest on the loan. Republic Finance never sent me a bill or any communication regarding the loan after I made the payment. They allowed interest to accumulate at a rate of .06 cents per day, and when I questioned them about it, they refused to provide any explanation other than I should have called to get the "true" payoff amount. This behavior is unacceptable and indicative of predatory lending practices. Republic Finance is attempting to extract additional money from me by misleading me about the payoff amount and failing to communicate with me about the loan. I can provide copies of my loan documents and the payment receipt as evidence. I request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Republic Finance. I also recommend that the state attorney general investigate Republic Finance for potential violations of consumer protection laws. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Spoke with Republic Finance in Simpsonville, SC because corporate transferred me to them, over a month ago to look into options due to circumstances beyond my control. I was calling to be proactive to see what options I had in regard to the hardship program. Not only did I not receive an answer. No one could explain to me how the option worked. I was only met with being told I would not be able to get a loan again and that I would have to go 3 months without paying before anything would be considered. Not only is that surprising but unprofessional. That’s also insane. No customer should have to do that and then end up with major issues, that can be avoided. Especially when they are reaching out letting the company know. Customers should know options available to them. Especially when they are being proactive to maintain a good relationship with the company. Not be met with, if you don’t pay, no more loans with the company. Not only is that insensitive but life happens and people should not have to worry when things happen beyond their control. Why aren’t the employees trained on the hardship program or are they lying? I have been affected by Hurricane Helene now and to know that no one there knows how the hardship program works to help people be able to get back on track, is bad business and I would not recommend anyone getting a loan with them. Other companies give you your options upfront and work with you. Not tell the customer they don’t know. I would like someone from corporate to contact me to please explain the hardship program to me and let me know the options I have.

I have a loan with Republic Finance. I defaulted in February 2024 and was served. I contacted Republic Finance and made payment arrangements to settle my debt of $160 a month on or before the 22nd of each month. I have not missed a payment since. In August I made my payment on the 12th. Then in September I made a payment on the 22nd. The lady on the phone informs me I have defaulted on my agreement. I said no I have paid every month. She says "your last payment was 37 days ago". She says " we have to be paid every 35 days max or it's a default". This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. So I paid a few days early in August and this is wrong? She still took my payment. I received a letter stating they filed on the 24th which is after I made my payment. Republic Finance is a greedy loan shark. Go after the people that don't make payments. I have paid every month and have my payment history to prove it. I'm tired of being bullied by this company. Their business practices need to be stopped

I had a personal loan with Republic Finance and got too deep in debt and started working with a debt consolidation company in July of last year. I have completed a settlement with Republic Finance in February of this year and they continually report negative and false information on my credit history.

I am not aware of my actual contract amount. I owe . The credit report reflects $9635. I was offered a modification in 2023, and the amount was for 175.00, while paying that they said I wasn’t paying and served me a court hearing in June by the sheriff department. Then they realize I was paying it. They now are telling me they dropped the court case against me. The manager will not send me any documents that it’s been dropped or I have requested my original contract and the amount I owe now. They will not send me any documents, but is requesting that I continue to start back paying the modification of 175.00. Please help assist me in this matter.

My wages are being currently garnished since July of 2024. I am now being contacted since 08/20/2024 up until today 08/22/2024 with attempts to collect payments while I am under a garnishment order. The papers that were served, were given to a minor (age 11) and not to me as I was not home. This occurred twice. The only reason I was made aware of being served, was after I received a garnishment letter in the mail. I then attempted to contact Republic Finance several times, they ignored all calls. Prior to them filing i had been paying on time and monthly until i had an unfortunate event where my mortgage was compromised. I called and had payment arrangements set up. Payments were set on auto pay. 2 weeks later I had fraudulent activity in which caused me to have to cancel my Capital One card and wait on a new one. I let them know that this occurred. I guess during this time, they began litigation. It is not a fair practice to serve documents to minor child. I never received documentation that notified me of a court date at all. After tracking down the documents given to a minor, there is nowhere in the document that states a court date. Nor is it fair to call demanding payments with threats of turning the account over to collections and charge off when payments are being garnished.

Republic Finance has been very unprofessional. I had a loan and due to circumstances beyond my control I had to make payment arrangements. The branch agreed and payments were made. After making payments this company began garnishment of my wages. I advised them they stated they would take care of the issue. Each call to the office and the attorney they hired you get a fraudulent answer. How is it legally possible for this combo take payment from me in addition to garnishment. I am beyond disgusted with Republic. As of today after months of trying to have Republic as well as the attorney they hired to STOP ASAP with garnishment nothing. I have paid almost $7k to this company and there attorney. Republic is only hurting honest people who have made pay. Totally unacceptable. The branch manager the receptionist clearly are trained to lie to the customers. Republic has been dishonest with the entire loan process's. The company should be investigated immediately. I have read multiple complaints clearly all the same this is shameful. People are struggling these days and you all continue to take advantage of honest hard working people who fall short. I am requesting a call with a resolution to stop this garnishment immediately and return any monies owed to me. Last note I was also told they would make sure no interest was taken would be waived that didn't happen either so it's all loan practices.
