I received several quotes on an exterior paint job for my single story sub-1000 square foot box of a house. After speaking to ****** at 225 Painting I decided to pay a hefty premium for a quality job done quickly. "About a week, depending on the weather"
I was a sucker.
It took these "professionals" SIX weeks (with nice weather almost every day) to do a mediocre job. Realistically, I could have done the work in my spare time in three weeks, with a better outcome.
****** assured me that they would be meticulous with collecting the old paint chips that were scraped off the walls because of possible lead. Most of the "scrapping" was done with a power washer. Hard to collect the paint chips from that. Their pressure washing also destroyed the soffit screens which I'm currently replacing.
For some reason, they caulked the butt joints on the siding of one of the four walls. The caulk around some of the windows looks like it was put on with a half inch hole on the caulk gun and not tooled at all. Super sloppy.
Despite assurances that two coats were to be applied, I've had to touch up about two dozen with a brush as the old color was showing through.
Gummy residue was left on the windows and fixtures from the three day tape they left up for the whole six weeks.
I've had to remove the brand new door hardware to clean the excess paint off. This wasn't a big deal though as I had to remove it anyway to sand down and redo the sloppy paint job on the front door.
All that and they broke a window too!
I wasn't expecting perfection but I expected a lot better work than was provided. They kept asking if I was "happy," the only thing that made me happy was not having to deal with them anymore.
