Newport Legal group at *******************************************************************************. Set up a consolidation loan which I through was a low interest loan. Was paying $248.63 each month they never contacted creditor for 2 years 6 months. Got summon for court. Called and they asked for more money. They are a scam. I got out . They only gave me $3183 and kept $5024. Will not give the rest back. They have a law suite against them that I was not informed of and was not suppose to take out fees but they did. Would like to be included in the suite and my money returned. I only had 5 payments to go. Now I have to pay the lawyers for my creditor all over again $10,845. Im paying twice. They are doing this to other. NEED Help to stop them.Customer response

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. I contacted the Attorney General Collaozo file #*** 242 from ******** va. They sent out a letter and no respond yet. Sent August 6 2024. Should I try to call them again . Dont know what to do! Please advise me. **** *******Business response

On 6/26/24 I sent an email to Newport Legal Group pertaining to a recent discovery that a lawyer from there company had lied to me in an email he sent me. The email is confidential but claimed we had our Annual Attorney Review. Unfortunately this never happened and is a breach of contract on the part of Newport legal group. Date: Wed, Feb 16, 2022 at 11:46AM Subject: Newport Legal Group Attorney Annual Review To: **************************** was nice enough to send me my call logs from the last 3 years. The attached document is my log from 2/16/22. It clearly shows that no call was made to me on the date in question. Instead of solving this problem with me when notified them of this problem the company sent this..."Dear ******,We have recently received the correspondences you submitted to us. It will be uploaded to your file in the coming days. If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call or reply to this email."I have numerous BBB complaints about this company but will take them issue by issue.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********.
The lawyer did in fact reach out to me but did not address the BBB complaint. I am still waiting to hear why I got an email saying we chatted when on my phone records it clearly shows he did not? Please address why you tried to lie to me in an email? Him not reaching out for 3 years is a direct violation of the contract I signed with Newport legal.
Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.

I enrolled in a debt payment program with Newport legal group making monthly payments of ****** to this company unfortunately I took the shortest term which was 36 months, I had 13 creditors that I was wanting to pay with Newport legal group apparently in 3 years theyve only settled with 3 creditors leaving me with harassing court summons because they werent communicating with the creditors now I had to terminate my agreement with Newport legal because they werent representing me as I thought , now paying 770 .00 for 36 months comes out to ***** or so , where did my money go and to make matters worse they only have 2200 in escrow to return to me , total ripoffCustomer response

I have been trying to reach out to the Newport Legal Group to speak with someone about my contract with them. I have called them for the last 3 months trying to speak with someone. Ive left voicemails, emails, and messages with customer service. I have not received a phone call back. My contract was over at 32 months and that was 3 months ago.Business response

several years ago, although i had a decent credit score of around 690, but my debt was piling up and i couldnt qualify for a loan based on income as i receive social security... this company was willing to help and where i went wrong was listening to them ask me not to pay my creditors for their shady tactics... where they are wrong is many thousands went out and only 1/3 or the debt is paid and we are now past the timeframe they stated i'd be completed with the program. i needed to update my checking info and their system wont allow me to do so. *** tried calling and even waited on hold a few hours once, also leaving a multitude of messages that are never returned. They are going to purposely find me in default even though ive tried everything on my end to rectify the situation.Business response

I am resubmitting my complaint against the Newport Legal Group. Three years ago they convinced me to stop paying my bills and I regret that decision since as my FICO was in the high 600s at the time. I am supposed to be completed with this program but after tens of thousands of dollars, only 1/3 is paid for the debt negotiated. The part the complaint is over is I changed my checking account several months ago and their system wont allow me to update my payment info. I have tried a dozen times to get a hold of someone but you can spend hours waiting and calls are never returned. I feel scammed.

I have essentially been paying my debts through this company. They proceeded to send me an email about ******************* Solitions stating that they have defrauded me. Upon further investigation I have realized that they were the ones who were doing exactly what they claimed ******************* Solutions have done which is not paying my debts which I have been paying for over the course of 4 years. Newport Legal Group was employed by me due to a financial hardship. I was behind on my credit cards and they promised to represent me to my creditors and assist with settling my debts. I've been in the program since 2022 and have managed to make all agreed monthly payments. I've also referred all my creditors to Newport as instructed by Newport.In February 2024, I called Newport to attempt to fully settle one of my accounts. During my conversation, Newport took my verbal authorization to contact the creditor and pay the account in full pending approval of the creditor. Newport told me I would receive an update by 15 February. I received no further communication from Newport. I attempted to call, after 15 February, the customer service number and received no answer. I've remained on hold anywhere from 40min to 1hr 45min with no answer. I've attempted to email Newport with no response from Newport. I've reached out directly to my legal team who was assigned to my case from the beginning. At first they were helpful, promising to have Newport reach out to me. I've received no communication of any form about this account. I had to go around Newport, contact the creditor directly, and pay off the account with my personal funds because Newport refused to contact the creditor as agreed. Meanwhile the escrow account that was established at the beginning of this program for this purpose, was unusable to pay this creditor, because Newport is considered the legal representative and is the only one who can authorize payments. In short, Newport agreed to contact a creditor and pay off an account, they lied. The creditor checked their records and found no communication between February and now from Newport in any form.Business response
