I paid an initial retainer of $7000 in January of 2022. At the time of the consult I was told that if my case went to litigation there would be a litigation retainer letter and a further $22000 retainer needed. In March of 2022 I received an email from a random stranger stating that her sister, who lives overseas had received all my financial details, my name and address, my childrens names and dates of birth in an email from my lawyer, **** ******* of Offit Kurman. In other words, my privacy had been breached. Instead of getting an apology or reassurance from the company that my credit would be monitored to ensure nothing came of this serious breach, I got an extremely rude and aggressive **** ******* on the other end of the phone. At the end of July, I got a phone call from the billing department telling me I owed them money. I enquired what they were talking about. Turns out they were sending monthly invoices to someone other that me and by the time I knew what was happening I got sent 7 months of invoices totaling more than $52,000 and rising fast. I had no idea. The litigation retainer was never issued. I would never have let it get to this amount had I known what was happening and how quickly my money had been usurped. They said it was "an inconvenience" to me that my invoices went to the wrong place. They have been bullying, manipulative and threatening to take me to court. They won't take ownership for their massive mistakes.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they have not answered any of my questions. They are the ones at fault and treated me appallingly. To say they are working to resolve the issues is false. My repeated requests for answers and a resolution fell on deaf ears. I have heard nothing from them except to threaten me with an even heftier bill if I did not pay by a certain deadline.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *******

The following questions have not been answered despite multiple attempts to get answers:

      1) Why did I not receive a litigation retainer letter?

      2) Why did I not receive notification from the company about my breach of personal information?

      3) Why am I not getting any reassurances from your company with regard to protecting my credit should something come of this breach?

4)Why have you not acknowledged that there is a PIPA Act requiring your business to implement and maintain reasonable security procedures to protect consumer data and notify consumers if their personal information has been compromised in a security breach? It is the law!

5 Why was I treated so rudely and unjustly by your so-called professional associate Sara D****** when I questioned her on the mistake that she had made?

      6) Is this how Offit Kurman treats its clients when their associates screw up?

      7) Why did it take 7 months for some one in the billing department to reach out to me about the very rapidly growing (unbeknown to me) pile of invoices that were unpaid because of your associates careless mistake? As a result of advice given to me by Sara D****** I made financial decisions without any knowledge that I owed all this money through no fault of my own. Why????

      7) Why does no one want to answer these questions?

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

They have not answered the questions asked of them. BBB asked me to pose all the questions in bullet point form which I did. BBB informed me that they are required to answer question asked of them as part of the accreditation standards. They have not done so.They bullied me into paying the extortionist charges that I had no idea I owed due to their error, not mine, by a certain date or it would increase by $15,000. That is the reality. They make it sound like they did me a favor. They repeatedly sent my private information to the wrong emails. No assurance of anything. This is absolutely not resolved.

      Sincerely,

On February 3, 2023, I received a court summons in the mail (please see attached) for unpaid, November 2022 rent. I paid that rent in 2022. I am concerned as to why I was served a court summons over two months later in 2023 for rent that I paid in 2022. I have a zero balance on my rent ledger. I expect that any day now, I will have the summons posted on my front door by the sheriff's office, as this is how this process works. I contacted the name and number of the Offit Kurman lawyer that is listed on the summons, on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:57 AM and left a voicemail explaining the situation. A week later, I have not heard back. All Offit Kurman has to do is contact ******* in Bethesda or ****** ********** in Silver Spring to confirm I paid November 2022 rent. I am requesting that Offit Kurman PA please promptly contact the District Court of Maryland - Montgomery County and have me removed from the docket/case dismissed. I do not want the stress of being served by the sheriff for something I paid for. It is bad that the law firm did this. Thank you. and myself be contacted with documentation that
