On November 4, 2021, I had an employee from Michigan Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing out to do a maintenance check on a geothermal unit. The employee did not do any real checking on the unit. About all he did was some dusting and vacuuming of the unit, unlike other maintenance personnel have done in the past. The geothermal unit was working until the weather got colder, when it had to work hard because the weather stayed warm until January. I would have to have had problems in December if I wanted to get them back on the 30 day service warranty. After I did not get satisfactory service from this company, I contacted another company to come out to the required maintenance. I contacted Michigan Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing about getting a refund on the nonservice, and I was advised that I needed to talk to the owner. I have tried to make that contact, but I have not been able to do so. I was advised when I stopped in the office that the employee that was supposed to have done the service was no longer working there, whether they left the job or were fired, l am not sure.

************ called us for a cleaning on his geothermal unit. We went out to his home on November 4, 2021, at 3:00 pm. Our technician was there for an hour. Notes from the technician: Clean geos coil, drain pan and drain line and check all wire connections. The coil was very dirty, but I got it cleaned off. I then tested the unit and noticed I was getting a high amp draw from the water valve and it looks like the valve body is leaking. I recommended it to be replaced. Unit is working good at this time. The technician then collected payment and left.

We have a 30-day guarantee on our work. The low temperatures in November were in the 20s so the geothermal was running in heating mode. We did not hear anything from ************ until he came into the office on February 4, 2022, claiming that the technician did not do his cleaning correctly and wanting a refund. He stated he had to have another company come out, but he did not contact us at all to attempt to fix whatever the issue was. He spoke with our HVAC supervisor while he was in the office and told him that the unit was running fine until the end of December. Our supervisor questioned why he did not call us at that time, ************ stated he did not want us to come back out because he felt he didnt get appropriate service the first time. Our supervisor then told him we would have sent out a different technician if that was the case. Our supervisor stated he would speak to the owner regarding a refund.

It was determined by the owner and the supervisor that a refund was not going to be given. Too much time had passed, we had not been contacted about any issues by the customer and the notes on the account show that a cleaning had been performed and recommendations had been given.
