Called Stonegate to make appointment with ************************************************ regarding issues with breast implant on 1/24/23. Was recommended, by receptionist, to get referral from FMD as removal of problem implant may be covered by insurance. Saw my FMD on 2/3/23 and referral made to ********************. Called ******************** office (Stonegate) on 2/9/23 and made appointment for video call as this MD practices part of the year in *********, which is where she was at this time. This appointment was for 2/15/23. Then made appointment for in person visit for 3/21/23. Was told by receptionist that each of these visits would be $50 for a total fee of $100 cash. I never signed any insurance paperwork for billing or even consent for billing. Had video call on 2/15/23 and call lasted ********************************************************************** person visit would be $50 each. She did not deny.On 3/7/23 received a bill for $189 for that video call. That was my portion as my insurance was billed for $378! On 3/8/23 called her office questioning this bill. Told by receptionist that did not seem right and she would look into it and get back with me. On 3/9 the same bill appeared was emailed to me. Called her office again and after a few phone calls they told me that was the bill. I asked how did they have my insurance info as I never gave it to them. Was told by receptionist that it is on file with Cornwall Health System and they do their billing. According to the Doctor notes, this video call lasted 20 minutes with 20 minutes for documentation. The billing code was CPT code ***** for a 45 ********* minute visit. I never consented to my insurance being billed for this visit. I consented to $50 cash. Had I known that was not true and that her actual 20 minute video visit would be billed at $378 I never would have seen her. That is excessive. According to my research, most plastic surgeons charge between $150-250 for an initial, in person, in-depth consult with exam.
