On 05-30-2023 took my cat short hair Mazey and Dog Pomeranian Milo to vet apt. Due to Mazey growling and hissing and biting at her tail also took video of her doing these things for vet to see and help diagnose. She told me unless she ran extensive blood work she would have no clue her problem. I refused the extensive blood work due to expense and the video showed what I later googled and found out it is hyperesthesia syndrome. If the vet is a vet then she should have known right off what is wrong with her. But she refused to treat any animal with a long term medication at the appointment due to it would hender their quality of life to be medicated. As for my 18 year old Pomeranian she ran extensive blood work but before doing so she said after I explained his symptoms and my concerns she refused to give him a script of antibiotics for long term use as she wanted to do a surgical procedure and neuter him. Although she said that's what has to happen but he loves ***** wouldn't come out of surgery alive. For $750. As well as the $370 charge they charge me for the dog cat and blood work for Milo my Pomeranian first visit. She just wrote in the notes today something different then what she had told me in person. I don't understand why she can do this? And breaks my heart that she is most likely doing this to other animals and pet owners. I had a couple other people call up there and ask her a price for neutering their dogs young and older and she quoted them $150 a piece but yeah she's seen how attached I was to my Pomeranian of 18 years and tried to take advantage of me. With refusing medication and only wanting to do surgical procedure that would end his life. I have had him looked at by another vet and they said there was no way that they would put him under anesthesia at his age it would definitely not be a good outcome.Business response

I have received the email communication from you on 7.3.23 regarding your visit to ***** ********** ******** ** ******* **** **** ***** *** ****. The email contained the following correspondence form you:
“How the hell did you not diagnose my cat at all? It's Feline Hyperesthsia! I even provided a video of her with growling, hissing and biting her tail! Duh! I researched and even I figured it out! Refund my money for the appointment! And refund my monies for my dog Milo's apt and not telling me a thing except wanting to kill my 18 year old Pomeranian by performing an operation that you know he is to old for! I've had 2 other vets verify he is to old to put under anesthesia! I'll pay for the blood work but nothing further! Refund or I'll call bbb and report you as well as the state of Missouri and have your license revoked!”
My Response:
I am very sorry that you are unhappy with your visit on 5.30.23. Following this email you will receive additional emails with both Milo and *****’s medical files so that you can review and send to your new veterinarian. As you will see, both exams and communications are fully documented. After reviewing the files I have elected not to refund any of your charges as all of your concerns were properly addressed and multiple recommendations to further diagnose and treat your pets were offered. I stand behind all of our discussion and recommendations provided at the time of service.
We are able to forward all pet information to the veterinary clinic of your choice for all future veterinary needs of your pets. Please let us know where you would like information sent. We have canceled all future appointments that were scheduled for your pets.Additional Notes for BBB complaint:
*****: Feline Hyperesthesia is a diagnosis or rule out. Appropriate testing needs to be done to rule out more common and treatable conditions.
Milo: This patient was experiencing fecal and urinary intermittent obstructions due to prostatitis which is treated with castration. This particular pet was a cryptorchid and required special anesthesia and surgery procedure. Severe dental disease also required anesthesia to perform extractions. This patient would be at higher anesthetic risk due to age, kidney disease, and chronic prostatitis. The average general practitioner may not be interested in managing such a tough case however I have years of experience in critical care and advanced cases which is why the owner sought me out.
Our clinic's routine canine castration for heathy pets are a minimum of $275 not including a preanesthetic workup. There is no way a quote of $150 was given for this procedure.

I am rejecting this response because
My regular veterinarian checked the video you watched and knew right away what was wrong with Mazey! Without the expensive blood work!
I have had Milo checked at my regular veterinarian in the past and they refused because of his age! Said he would not make it through the anesthetic! I also got another opinion from another veterinarian and they said the same thing! You also refused any medication whatsoever in either case! You would rather let them suffer or do surgery to kill them both. And you are very wrong about the prices! I did have 2 other people call and check your prices and they were $150!I just want my money refunded! I will pay for Milo's blood work and an office v sit but that is all! You done nothing else!
