Worst experience with insurance so far. We have home owners, life insurance, and HAD car insurance which we have since transferred at their suggestion to only end up paying a FEE for transferring which was never discussed. We will be moving our home owners insurance shortly. Wouldn't recommend them ever.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

This letter is in response to the Better Business Bureau review from Ms. ********* October 4, 2024, Ms. ****** submitted a request to cancel her auto policy. The change was processed on October 15, 2024, using a short rate factor. After review of the situation, we have re-cancelled the policy using a pro-rate factor. This resulted in a refund which will be mailed to the policy address. We appreciate the opportunity to resolve this issue and will continue to review ways to better serve our clients.Respectfully,NORTH CAROLINA FARM BUREAU MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY*****Review from Adam F

I sold my house and canceled my homeowners insurance policy on 7/12/2024 and STILL have not received my refund. I have called several times and one customer service *** actually tried arguing with me that they sent the refund to the "address on file" (the address on file is correct as i receive all my policy info and bills to the correct address) when the previous agent told me that they had mixed my old address with my new address and sent it to an address that didn't exist. i called back Monday, 9/9/2024, to check the status of my refund as they issue checks on Thursday's to check to see if my refund had been sent out overnight to me like it had in the account notes multiple times but apparently their computer system is from 1987 and notes don't transfer through the system. I have communicated to the customer service team and my *** that this incident has really pushed me to considering looking for a new insurance company. Its almost like Farm Bureau doesn't care about the customer service at a home office level, only on the local agent level.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

This letter is in response to this Better Business Bureau review. On July 12, 2024, our client submitted a request to change his address and cancel his homeowners policy. Unfortunately, when the changes were processed, the city was listed as Randleman instead of *********On July 28, 2024, our client contacted our customer service department to inquire about his refund. The address error was caught and our representative sent a request to our accounting department to reissue the refund. The check was mailed to the correct address on September 6, 2024. Unfortunately, our representative missed the previous notes requesting to send via overnight and it was sent standard mail.We apologize for the miscommunication and processing error. We continue to review ways to better service our clients.Respectfully,NORTH CAROLINA FARM BUREAU MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY, ***Review from Teresa M

Fraudulently charging a Consent to Rate fee for several hundred dollars at renewal without justification and without my permission. Consent to Rate should only be applied when insureds home cant be covered by a standard policy AND when the insured consents to the *** by signing an agreement. I did not sign an agreement. I've been with Farm Bureau for 2 years--no claims. The agent told me that their Underwriters were applying the *** because I did not have an automobile policy with them. This is on top of the state approved 8% rate increase. I've filed a formal complaint with both the ******************** of Insurance Commissioners as well as the North Carolina Department of Insurance for fraudulent use of ***.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

Predatory. Do not to business with them. They quoted me auto insurance at $45/mo so I left my long-standing insurer, only to be told a few days later, after I paid that I would pay over $300/mo. My prior insurer wouldn't let me back at the grandfathered rate so this "error" is costing me thousands of dollars. Liberty Mutual told me many sketchy insurers will do this. Stay away.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

We received an Agent On Duty request from the reviewer by phone Friday July 19th. The motor vehicle report and claims history was pulled through our system to check for accidents &/or violations. The claim in question didnt show on either report. The underwriters in our home office check behind every policy to ensure accuracy. When they pulled a report from their system, the accident showed up and we received an alert that the policy would have 3 points added. Our office immediately reached out to the client to inform her the 3 points would be added &, subsequently, the cost would go up to a total of $332.70 every 6 mos (as opposed to the stated "over $300/mo."). After this conversation, she decided to cancel the policies she opened with our company. We immediately sent a cancelation form to the client to proceed with the cancelation of the policies. We then exchanged emails to explain the refund process and answer miscellaneous questions.Review from Ashton B

I have been extremely dissatisfied with my claim process. My car accident occurred the end of June and I still do not have resolution. My claim is being processed by a third party company that has been less than helpful. When we asked for further assistance we were told our claim would be handled internally by the Greensboro NC office. When I spoke with the Greensboro NC office I was told no that the third party company was still being used even though they have had multiple complaints about said third party. My husband has been a Farm Bureau customer for 12 years and this is the first claim we have ever made. There is a serious breakdown of communication within this company. The customer service has seriously been lacking. I have never had this issue with a claim being handled so sloppy and so unprofessional when I have had other insurance companies. After the resolution we will no longer be customers.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

We have been Farm Bureau customers for years with our homeowners ********************** on a double wide mobile home. Today (July 3, 2024) I received a call from our agent saying that they were canceling my homeowners policy due to the age of my house. It was constructed in 2002. 22 years old. I said thank you for putting the screws to us. He was quick to respond that there is a way around this. They could still insure our home IF we signed up with them to cover our automobiles. Sounds like extortion to me. I found out what was needed to get a quote on vehicle insurance and told him I would email the information to him. In the meantime we contacted another insurance company that we deal with on a golf cart we have and they insuranced our home within minutes. Paid them and then called Farm Bureau and cancelled with them. Also saved us money going different way.Review from Ashley B.

We regret the difficult experience our claimant has had her with claim with us. Unfortunately the 2 drivers involved provided conflicting accounts of the of the accident. With respect to the lack of communication, the problem was with the phone number we had as the only contact information. Since that time we were able to correspond with the claimant via email and are in the process of investigating the accident.Review from Donald S

I have been using NC Farm Bureau for years and a loyal customer. We insure our house and 3 automobiles with NCFB. Yesterday, my son needed a tow back to the house. I went online to try to file a claim and the website couldnt locate my policy. I then called the roadside assistance group and spoke with ******. ****** and I spent 45 minutes on the phone, while she was trying to locate my policy. She couldnt find my policy. Gave her my policy # and the last 8 digits of the *** # of 2 of my vehicles, per her request. ****** was less than accommodating, seemed as if she didnt care to take some extra steps. At one point ****** asked if we even had roadside assistance. Ummm, yes. We spend $743/month just on car insurance. I went to make my statement to share with her that on 6/18, Farm Bureau had deducted $743 from our account, so yes we have coverage. Again, she still could NOT even locate my policy. She then proceeds to tell me I could file a claim and pay for the tow out of pocket. *****************, thats not going to happen. I then asked for a supervisor. She then comes back on the phone to tell me shes trying to get a supervisor on the phone. To no avail, no supervisor. ****** then asks me, who was I trying to call. Huh? I said, Farm Bureau. Are you not with Farm Bureau? Her reponse was, well we are. But we arent. Huh?? Total trainwreck of a call and zero help. She also told me I could call the office during normal business hours. Its Saturday afternoon. Im not leaving this car from Saturday afternoon until Monday AM. Horrible. At this point I told her I was done. A relative has AAA, so we called and got the tow scheduled for later in the day. Got a phone call back from *************************** later asking if I still needed roadside service. I said yes, but Im not paying out of pocket because I have coverage. She then promptly hangs up on me. Im done with NC Farm Bureau. Ill be calling around Monday AM for a new provider. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

First of all we apologize for the situation and appreciate your business. Our agent contacted Mr. **** and they discussed the situation. Mr. ****-notified us that he called Farm Bureau Road Side Assistance. He got the number via ******* We asked him if he could provide me the number he called and he said he could not. But he did provide a number that called him back ************** Tennessee Area code. We explained to him that North Carolina Farm Bureau does not have road side assistance and must have gotten an out of State Farm Bureau that has no affiliation with our company. We feel that Mr. **** was not using the correct North Carolina Farm Bureau Web site. Our agent provided him with all the correct contact numbers including his personal cell number and the correct website for any future needs. Mr. **** is welcome to submit the towing bill for reimbursement up to the limit for the coverage provided in the policy. Again we are very sorry for his frustration and we have provided contact information for any future needs.Review from Taylor A

This company has been nothing but a major headache for us and we wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I started this policy to get off of my parents and at first they were great. Super nice and helpful but after my policy was set, if I called would be sent to voicemail and never called back. When I tried to add my husband to the policy, I called 3 separate times to talk to my agent and the 1 time he called back, he said he would work on it but then never got back to me. Now my husband and I started the process to switch insurance companies and it took nearly a month just to get someone on the phone. We left voicemail after voicemail and never got a single call or email back. When we did get them on the phone, they were very short and rude and acted like we were an inconvenience for calling. The person said she will submit the cancellation for us and there was nothing else needed after signing the form. We asked if there was anything additional and she told us we just had to pay that months premium and that will be it. I asked if there would be any cancellation fees and she told us no. We called because we got an email about an upcoming bill for the next month and she told us to ignore this and it will go away when the cancellation is processed. We then asked to make sure it was actually going to cancel and there was nothing else needed. She said no. Well 4 phone calls later and a bunch of frustration, our policy was cancelled. We were told each time we called about this that there were no additional fees and to ignore any billing statements. Well we got one today so we called and the lady couldnt help so we then called the billing department and they said it is a cancellation fee. Well after 25 minutes of explaining to this person what we were told and everything they put us through with this, she said we just had to pay it. This company needs to really fix itself and train its employees or shut down.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response

First of all we appreciate ******* business and apologize for the frustrating situation she has experienced. Our local District Manager reached out to ****** and had a detailed conversation about the situation. He apologized and got more details as to what occurred and who was involved. Since then he has visited that local office and addressed the situation with all the parties involved so we can learn from the experience and provide more thorough service in the future. We have waived the cancellation fee to a pro-rated cancellation as well.Review from basel h

On April 25, 2024, in ***********, my wife was in an accident with a driver who had Farm Bureau insurance. the other party liable for the accident, (NOT OUR FAULT) On May 14, 2024, *********************** of ******* was the Farm Bureau's adjuster at first. This was after numerous phone calls and emails were made. Finally, he said, "This is not the adjuster; *************************** is our current adjuster; please get in touch with him." We've been trying to reach *************************** for a week, but despite our numerous calls and emails, they continue to ignore us. As of May 27, 2024, neither the Farm Bureau representative nor the adjusters have returned our calls or emails, and our car has still not been fixed.North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance Agency Response
