Entered into service agreement 4-23-22 for kitchen island carpentry to be done. Paid $532 deposit on 4-25-22 for work to start 4-27-22. One Cut Carpentry has scheduled at least 7 start dates and has yet to show for any of them. At this point there is no response from owner, Henry A*******.Initial Complaint

Henry A******* did not complete the work as described in his invoice. He did ask for money up front twice. I should not have complied, but he seemed to have few resources. He did some of the work, which included replacing deck stairs, and he was to repaint and repair fascia on house. He did replace the stairs but did not get far in the work on the fascia. Instead, he asked for a check for materials and, once he had it, I never heard from him again despite several phone and text messages. In all he collected 1400 from me for the unfinished work.Initial Complaint

We are trying to turn a dresser into a bathroom vanity. My wife found master carpenter, Henry, on the internet. We started conversing via phone and text about May 1st, 2022. We sent pictures and had a video call so he could see the various components of the job. He said he would send us an estimate via quick books in the next few days. No estimate came. We contacted Henry to let him know and again he said he would email us the estimate. After still no estimate, he said he would knock off $100 for the delay in getting us the quote and do the work for $600. Seemed quite reasonable and he could start on Monday. He indicated a deposit of $210 would be required to get the materials and guarantee the date. We drove and met Henry and gave him the deposit. (We have texts acknowledging receipt of the money). Monday came but Henry didn't. We left several messages asking for a return call and called his cell also. We didn't hear from him, and we asked for a refund of the deposit. We indicated he could bring the materials and receipts and we would deduct that expense from the deposit. On Thursday or Friday, Henry called and relayed that he had had several emergent family issues, he was sorry and could be there Monday to perform the job. We said OK. Monday came but Henry didn't. We haven't heard from him in over a week. This is my side of the story and is the best of my recollection of the events. We would like a refund of our deposit, in full or receive the materials and balance of deposit. Should be in cash, as that is how we paid Henry.
