In April/May I hired CR Refridgeration to replace my air conditioner. In July I discovered water damage to my flooring that was caused by a broken pump on the air conditioner. CR Refridgeration. Came out and fixed the pump and told me they were going to fix the flooring. Months later I had not heard back from them so I filed a claim with this insurance company and they denied the claim due to the coverage date. I filed a second claim with another insurance company because they were switching insurance companies during the one in question. The second insurance company denied the claim as well due to date of coverage. CR Refridgeration had a lapse in insurance coverage and have stated they want to make things right yet have not made any steps towards fixing the problem.

I'm writing to file a complaint against the following business: CF Refrigeration performed work on my property located at * *** *** ****** **** ** under work order **** and invoiced under reference *****. CF Refrigeration's task was to winterize the swamp coolers and light the pilots for the heating system. They reported to the job very late in the season (on January 13, 2022). The water had already frozen in the swamp cooler lines. There's no point in winterizing a swamp cooler after water had already frozen. Despite being too late to benefit from the winterization maintenance, they did the maintenance anyway and charged $288.03. CF Refrigeration gave instructions to the tenant to perform work on a frozen valve despite being bound by a lease prohibits the tenant from per-forming unauthorized work on the house. CF Refrigeration left the property without performing any kind of useful maintenance. The tenant also never sought authorization to do the work instructed by CF Refrigeration. CF Refrigeration should not have reported so late in the season to have ren-dered the job unnecessary. And in the event of such a late arrival, they could have only made themselves useful by thawing the water themselves, testing the swamp coolers for damage, followed by a proposal to fix if needed. In-stead they just billed for unnecessary work and reported that they don't know if damage was done by the freezing water. CF Refrigeration was also expected to light the pilot lights on the heating system and they did not do so. This leaves me in a very bad position because the roof has a leak and must be reroofed. The roofer would normally remove the swamp coolers and rein-stall them, but because the swamp coolers are potentially broken by CF Re-frigeration's late arrival and at the same time their condition is unknown, I cannot hire the roofer because if the swamp coolers are broken after the roofer reinstalls them, who's to say whether the roofer damaged them or the frozen water? They've created a diffusion of responsibility problem. I have tried to reach CF Refrigeration by phone to get clarification on some vague/incomplete wording on the invoice. I spoke to Danial who said to call him back the next day after he reviews the history. The next day I could only reach Jordan, who said the same thing. Then the next business day Jordan did not answer the phone. I sent a fax requesting a phone meeting and gave a specific time when I would call (and offered to reschedule if needed). They did not reschedule but also did not attend the phone at the meeting time. It seems clear that they are dodging my call. CF Refrigeration is therefore withholding clarification on what was done pursuant to the work order and I am left not knowing why a valve would be removed by a tenant who is not a plumber, and what instructions must have followed the removal because obviously when you remove a valve and turn the main water valve on the water just runs freely. The invoice talks about items that were missing at the property, which were indeed at the property at one point in time. Did they ask the tenant for those items? What did the tenant say? Where are all the locations where frozen water was detected? CF Refrigeration has evaded these questions.

      Hello,

We are sincerely sorry that this customer had this experience. The customer in reference did not hire CR Refrigeration, his property management company, ******** ******** ********** did. We did the work per their specifications and after inquiring of the 100's of turnovers we did for them there were no complaints.  We felt like we did a good job, sorry you feel this way, we treated you the same as we treat all other customers.  I've been in business 23 number of years and strive to make sure the customer has a satisfactory experience. We spoke to the customer, even though we don't usually have ANY contact with homeowners if we go through the Property Manager, and told him we would talk to ******** about the issue at topic. We were told by ******** ******** that they dealt with the manner and we don't need to speak to the customer again. Again, we typically don't ever have contact with homeowners if a property manager is in the picture. We were not hired by ****** and he is not our customer. We are just a third party in this situation.

      Thank you

      Dear BBB,

I'm writing in response to CF Refrigeration's reply dated February 25, 2022 (received on March 3, 2022) for file# ********.
******** ******** ********** ("***") operates on my behalf. When *** hires a contractor to perform work on my property at my expense, *** is effectively a proxy for me, the ultimate customer, independant of what the supplier elects to write on the invoice as the "customer". When a secretary places an order, you don't say the supplier is working for the secretary.
The response from CF Refrigeration is unacceptible. I requested information about the botched job - information CF Refrigeration holds exclusively. Refusing to communicate is the most fundamental way that a supplier can fail to deliver satisfactory service and it's a non-starter for mediation. They offered no remedy and withheld information, and left me with a cooling system in an unknown and dicey state.
Damage was done to my cooling system. When water freezes within copper components, the copper may or may not burst at that moment. But even if it doesn't rupture the copper on that freezing instance, the fatigue imposed on the copper is damage. Copper can only be stressed half a dozen times before it's sure to burst, similar to the way bending a wire many times will eventually brake it. So for the copper alone reasonable compensation would be at least one sixth the cost of a service call to replace the copper tubes even if there is no operational damage. CF Refrigeration's late arrival has caused stress on the components shortened the life of the hardware in my swamp coolers.
CF Refrigeration's refusal to remedy the problem and consequential refusal to test the swamp coolers does further damage by effectively blocking replacement of a leaking roof for the next quarter of a year.
I don't need to duplicate my complaint here. It's clear that CF Refrigeration did not address the issues I've reported and so I do not accept their response.

      Sincerely,

      ****** ******

      Case ******** still unresolved

      Dear Ms. *********,

I'm writing in response to you letter dated March 30, 2022, which I received yesterday. The business simply repeated a defeated argument without offering a remedy. Please ensure that case ******** is marked unresolved.

      Thank you,
