I sold my house and the buyers agent chose Nevada state title as the escrow company. Before we started the process, I emailed ********* our escrow officer, and requested a good faith report reflecting all their fees before we move forward. The report was sent to me shortly, the fees were reasonable and decided to move on with them. All went well till signing date, sep 20, I went to their location in ************** agent was there as well. Upon arrival, ********* started to go with us over fees and charges, I realized they added $150 charge for mobile notary service that we never used, and another fee of $530 that they never disclosed with me on the report they sent. Next to the fee it says in cap OPTIONAL. I asked ********* why this fee is on the contract and why she didnt disclose it on the good faith report? She responded I dont know why its not on the report but we charge it to everyone. So I responded if its mandatory on every transaction why your form says this fee is optional? her exact words were its optional everywhere else but not here, and were adding it to your contract. I requested to talk to someone else at the agency, she said theres no one else to talk to but I can give you a number to call. So we shook hands and left without signing. Its been almost a week now and no one from the title company contacted me regarding this issue, my agent reached out to them twice and the answer was go pound sand. This is not clean business. Hiding fees just to bring you in to the table and try to twist your arms knowing you have no other choice but to accept is bad. If they made a mistake on the good faith report and they did not disclose all their fees properly, they need to hold themselves accountable. If their own form says this fee is optional, they need to play by the rules and not force it as a mandatory fee on clients to make extra profit. Being a bully and not honoring whats on your own forms makes you shady and dishonest I want them to do business the right way. Otherwise, Ill be moving my complaint to the insurance department, hopefully I can get help there.
