On 5/24/22, I took my car, 2011 ***** XC60 to be serviced due a non-functioning air conditioner. After 10 years, it was assessed that the A/C compressor was faulty and a new one needed to be installed. It was installed and the car was working well, until 7/25/22, which is abnormal as its shelf life averages ***** years and should not break down after 15 months of use. I took the car back to the original mechanic on 8/1/22 and he informed me that the A/C compressor is defective and needs to be replaced. He also stated that the part was no longer under the 1 year warranty and I would have to pay for a new one to be installed, even though I spent $1,142 last year for what I thought was a new compressor. Obviously, they put faulty part in my car last year, and a year later, they want to pay another $1000 for them to fix it When I told him to contact the vendor for a replacement, I was told they would not replace it, without even talking them. When I asked to see the warranty, they refused to show it to me. Also, they asked me if I had the original invoice of the work done, which I found strange considering they have a computer system. I didn't have the detail invoice but told them it should be in their records. I was told that they threw away all of the paper work after a year and have not backed up their computer files. Since being notified of the faulty part, I was told I will be contacted after they speak to the vendor. Since then (8/4/22), they have not picked up my calls, do not return my texts nor sent me the warranty. They failed to let me know how this was going to be resolved, during a *** heatwave, averaging 96 degrees. My job requires me to travel with my car and have suffered heat exhaustion with no a/c. This left me no choice but to go to another mechanic to get it fixed. The mechanic confirmed that the compressor was defective and old. I had a new one installed and spent $952 , also proving I was overcharged greatly for the work done.
