On April 24, 2024 a company that purported itself to be New ********* **** came to my apartment to clean my through-the-window air conditioners. They remove the two air conditioners from the windows and said that they needed to be power washed offsite. I paid them a $500 deposit to clean both air conditioners and return them to me. They called me on 4/25 at 9pm to tell me that both air conditioners were clean and working. The technician, ***, informed me that my older unit (purchased in 2010) was too old and should be replaced but it seemed to be working ok after the test. I told him I had to verify if he was allowed to reinstall the air-conditioners per my co-op rules and that I would call him back. The next morning, I called *** back and was told that the older a/c was no longer working. It had failed some type of test even though it was working fine the night before. Then, during the same phone call, *** informed me that both air conditioners were actually stolen!!! Through several phone calls over the few days, the story kept changing. At first, they were found and it was a misunderstanding. Then they were lost and a police report was filed. It was absolutely confusing and disheartening. I finally demanded my $500 back and another $1,000 to replace my two air conditioners. *** refused and kept trying to say that he would give me new air conditioners at a good price. When I said I would pick them up at his address on **************** in *********, he said that was not his address and that his invoice had his correct address. I checked the invoice in my email and the address was ********************. He said he was actually in ****************. I asked for the address to go and see where the incident had occurred and he refused to give me the address. The invoice also has two different company names and two different websites listed leading me to believe that this is a scam of epic proportions! Company names: ************, Cool Air NYC Vendor ********** ********* ****Websites: **************** *** **** ******* Phone numbers: *****************-********* ************
