Today I finally fired the floor contractor. My management complained to me two days ago. My super and I all agreed this contractor lied about completing the project and didnt do a good job. Very slow and mistakes. He did not listen and just wanted to do what he wanted to do. He showed up very late today. He was often not on time. Very sloppy work. Did unauthorized work and ruined work of other contractors on the job. Complete apartment renovations.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I was forced to rehash and explain to the owner of the company why I was justified. *********** owner ************************* called me today asking for his money and I explained to him that $3000 was paid to him and I did not want to pay him any more money. I explained that his first mistake was to not use the material to make the floor straight. We had jagged floors and big gaps between the floors and the walls. He said at first because we had no walls and he would fix it. He never did. He was supposed to use my molding and then he tried to talk me out of it. He bought his own molding and installed after I reluctantly had to agree since he would not fix the walls correctly. He went cheap with the red oak wood, we had a pile left over before the walls went up. He ruined the walls in the complex because his men brought 16 foot molding up 4 flights of stairs. My management and super did not want this man in the building. I fired ***** Jan 5. He asked me today why I did not have him come back to fix the bathroom floor. He refused to put enough wood on the bathroom floor. The entire bathroom floor had to be ripped out and replaced. I had to pay another contractor $4000 to fix everything that J **** Flooring did and did not do. He was supposed to be done Dec 31 and I gave him 2 more days to work. I told him he had to be done before Jan 5. He told me on Jan 4 he was coming back in the morning Jan 5 9 am and did not come until 11:30 am. He tried to hurry up and do more work. I told him to finish the little bit and take all his tools and leave. Neighbors complained about him and so did the super and building manager. I contacted the Katanga floor vice president of sales, ***********************, said the product is "waterproof" but it would not be appropriate as we have a shower stall. I had the bathroom ripped out because under the floor they did not put enough plywood to build up. They did not even glue it down in a way that it could be reused. On Jan 5 when he was fired, the molding he installed was not caulked or painted, the floor was not varnished with the 2 additional coats of varnish, which was part of the original estimate. This project was started in early ************** ************ took advantage of the fact that I had no walls and ceilings. He had no sense of urgency or time at all. He came in whenever he felt like it to work. I am glad I did not allow them to remove the toilet because they are not plumbers and he might have caused more damage. He asked me why I did not have him back to fix the bathroom floor. First I already fired him Jan 5 and second he was not welcome back in the building I was told. I would not go against my super or managing agent. They are here to help me. The fact that he did not want to understand and still asking for payment tells me about his character. We texted and spoke on the phone. He called me 9:12 am and he said forget about it. Should I accept that as resolution? I have the text chat on my phone and emails with Katanga and my new **** from the other contractor. Molding and trim was caulked and painted by new contractor. Bathroom floor redone and varnish still needs one more coat. I think this is the correct status. Also, new contracted ripped out molding in kitchen. As far as the wood floor, if you remove the molding, you will see jagged floors and gaps because he did not do precision work. He complained about removing nails and originally wanted to take up a beautiful wood floor that just needed restoration. I am glad I did not allow him to talk me out of that. My super called this man arrogant. He was arrogant to demand payment twice today one in text and calling. He asked to be let in to fix the floor in the bathroom. I would not and could not allow him back after Jan 5. Too many big mistakes. He said forget about the payment verbally on the phone at 9:20 am. I am putting this in writing to you. Please advise. Thank you
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.
Sincerely,
