I got off the phone with Updater a little while ago. The service seemed decent and the agent handling my call was very nice. But I'm concerned about the informality by which Updater conducts its business. The agent was asking for my SSN and my credit card info over the phone and sent me a link asking for personal information. Additionally, Updater sent me a few emails and texts, each containing a different number by which to contact the company's customer support line. I'll be finding out whether I got scammed soon enough, but overall the experience was pleasant. But the fact that I'm having this anxiety over the methods by which Updater conducted its business is unsettling.

Do not use this service, it is a scam. They haggled me trying to get me to tell them my SSN over the phone, and got increasingly frustrated when I refused to give it to them. Their emails are disguised to look like they are coming from the management company that you are renting from, but when I contacted ******************* about it, they said that they have no affiliation whatsoever with this company. Updater is extremely scammy. They made it seem like I had to go through them to sign up for internet at my apartment. Then they set up my internet account with ******* wrong so I cannot access the account. They did such a bad job, even ******* cant get me in the account. I gave ******* my social which I also have Updater and that didnt work to get me into the account. Im concerned about how Updater used my private information. Additionally they recommended ************** for my move and it was a scammy company. A lot of my stuff is broken and I was charged a lot more money than originally quoted. As a woman, the movers contracted through this company when I was alone and forced me to pay more money in order to get my items delivered. The moving timeline was also not what was agreed upon when my items were picked up. Do not use Updater.Updater, Inc. Response

Updater was great! Signing up for internet and forwarding my mail was super easy. ***************** was a great option but I decided not to purchase it in the end. Overall, it was a really good experience, would use again.Updater, Inc. Response

Received an email that said it was from the apartment complex I just moved out of, asking me to "Confirm My Move". They used logos from the apartment complex and from the management company. The message was carefully crafted to appear to be from the complex. On closer inspection, I found that the email didn't match either my apartments or the management company's addresses and the link pointed to a third party. If the first step in your business model involves deception, you are running a scam. Stay away from this company and do not trust them with ANY of your personal information.Updater, Inc. Response

This company steals your information and pretends to be affiliated with your apartment's rental company. They store all information they illegally collected on you. No idea how they even get your information, but they'll send you an email pretending to be a part of your apartment complex to get you to create an account. DO NOT TRUST.Review from Sam D

Sent me fraudulent contact information for Optimum. Ended in my identity being stolen. If I could give them no stars I would. Bank of America is currently investigating them for fraud. Do NOT use updaterUpdater, Inc. Response
