I had a makeup ****** with ***** **** on September 18 2023. The ****** began at approximately 11:30am (30 minutes later than the scheduled time, as ***** was running late) and ended at 3:50pm (the timestamp of my payment). There were many issues with the ******, the most primary being that ***** removed half of my eyebrow with tweezers. I urged her to be extremely conservative with any hair removal, but she completely removed the arch and the tail. The result looked so bad that she told me at the time, dont worry, it will grow back in a week. Several weeks have passed, and my eyebrow has still not grown back despite that Ive applying Rogaine and castor oil to it every day. Another makeup artist that I recruited to fix her work was aghast that another professional would make such a change. (Pictures are attached.)According to ******** law (*************************************************************************************), professionals need a license to remove eyebrow hair. I cannot find a record of ***** having an esthetician or cosmetology license. There were other issues, including:- ***** did not have a foundation color matching my skintone. When I pointed this out to her, first she claimed my face is tan, then she told me that the color itself doesn't matter and I need to go to Sephora to find my color myself. Getting a personalized foundation match was one the very reasons I was paying for a makeup ******.- ***** conducts the ****** in her own personal bathroom, which is very narrow and cramped. You sit in a vanity chair in this bathroom for the ******. Makeup palettes were stacked up on the floor, and as she worked, ***** stowed makeup in the sink, which struck me as exceptionally unsanitary.I would like a refund for the price paid, because ***** not only failed to provide a professional service, but she also did semi-permanent damage to my face.

      Dear BBB,

The following is a summary of my rebuttal to *** ************ complaint.

************************** booked a makeup ****** for Sept. 18th at 12:00PM. She asked for the appointment to be moved to 11:00AM, which I accommodated. She showed up early on 9/18/23. Her eyebrows were asymmetrical, and with her permission, I plucked a few hairs over her left brow. Only two weeks lapsed between the date of her ****** and the date of her complaint to the BBB, yet she alleges that I caused semi-permanent damage to her face. In reality, it typically takes 2-3 months to see full regrowth of eyebrow hair. Even Rogaine requires about 3 months of use before a user can expect to see results. I do not claim to be an esthetician, and my work as a makeup artist is primarily geared towards TV, film and theater, an area of work which does not require licensure. I duly informed her that the purpose of the ****** is for consultation, and I do not conduct shopping expeditions on behalf of the client. Rather, I compile a shopping list for the client to go out and make her own purchases. Accordingly, I provided a swatch of foundation color that matched her skin tone for her to take to a cosmetics store.

The ****** is partially conducted in my bathroom, which was designed specifically for my work and is immaculately clean upon a clients arrival. While I do put makeup supplies in the sink, this is only at the very end of the ****** when I am preparing to sanitize my equipment. I taught her for a full hour past her ******s scheduled end time, free of charge, during which I indulged all of her makeup questions and requests. Five days after her ******, she posted a 1-star review on ******* followed by text messages asking me to refund a small part of the ****** fee. She alleged that her eyebrow was damaged and sent several photos of her face. I later learned that one of these photos was doctored. She then filed a dispute with *****, asking for half of the ****** fee ($250.00) to be refunded. ***** settled the dispute in my favor. Her behavior is part of a vicious pattern where she uses negative reviews to harass and extort small businesses (especially those catering to personal appearance) into issuing her refunds or providing extra services for free.

I have attached several exhibits in support of my position. Please review them along with my complete rebuttal attached to this response.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

      Best Regards,
      ***** ****
