Like many people, I put off making a will for decades. Its difficult to think about ones mortality, and even more overwhelming to consider all of the decisions that will need to be made to maintain your health and financial well-being when you are no longer able. And who can we trust to help us put our final wishes into legal documents? I was extremely fortunate to find ********************* ********** and her team at JCS Elder Law. ***** took exquisite care and time to explain my choices, and the pros and cons of each. She has an impressive gift for translating legalese into lay persons language. Using real life examples, she illustrated various scenarios that could happen, ways in which they would impact my estate, and strategies for assuring that my wishes would be carried out. ****** approach was always kind, yet she had a knack for injecting humor just when it was needed. She made this heavy task so much easier. Taking a holistic approach, she also made sure I updated my living will, health care proxy, and power of attorney, and explained the nuances and impact of each choice. ****** breadth of professional and personal experience, along with her rock solid moral and ethical values, and fierce sense of advocacy, reassured me that she always had my interests at the forefront of every decision. ****** team members are a reflection of her values and work ethic. My interactions with **** and ***** were professional, efficient, and, like those with *****, kind. Together, they worked with me to finalize all of my paperwork. I now have a will and all of the documents I need to allow me to live my final years with peace of mind. Thank you, ***** and team!

********, I believe you mistook my explanation - that, as an attorney, I cannot take direction for, nor discuss the details of another person's Last Will and Testament. It's unequivocally unethical. I worked with your mother and successfully obtained round the clock personal care aide services, supplies, case management for her at home while preserving her assets and monthly income - during a pandemic, no less! Although I tried to listen to you with sensitivity and respect, I simply could not draft a Will to remove another family member as a beneficiary unless your mother - my client - expressed that to me directly, privately and before two witnesses. I am sorry that you perceived this explanation as an attack or judgement of your motives. It was not. Regarding returning calls, we pride ourselves on returning calls within 24 hours, nearly without fail. However, ********, you are not our client - your mother was! Our ethical and professional obligations were to her. We understand that you were trying to assist your mother and facilitate legal services. I hope you can come to understand the challenging dilemma we face.
