On 6/24/21 we gave Ron Woods $1450.00 down payment for a Blacktop job for our driveway in Hamburg, NY For grading, stone, and install 2 1/2 inch binder(fine) which is what he said we needed. The total was $4700 (main driveway $3450 along barn $1250) =$3250 due day of completion. Ron originally came to our home the week prior on his way to his sister in laws and to bid another job in Hamburg, per his words. He sat with my husband and I after walking the driveway as we discussed how it was an old farm that had a lot of heavy equipment use. He then returned about a week later with an official estimate and to collect a deposit. Again, according to him, he was visiting his sister in law. He said that he would probably come that next week Friday ,when he knew my husband was off, to dig driveway with bobcat and have a load of stone dropped so we could drive on it a few weeks before blacktop done. We waited, we called, we left messages, we heard nothing! He then showed up in his car on a rainy early September day, but left without saying anything because I told him, from the doorway, we had Covid. We again called several x's and no answer. The weather changed and we heard nothing through winter. In March my husband called. Ron started swearing at him ,saying we lied to him, that our driveway was a mud pit. We said you are the professional that saw the job, what did we lie about? He said he was taking his family on vacation and wasn't available, he would come early May to discuss job and hung up. He didn't call or show. Finally, after several unanswered calls, My husband asked him to please just give us our deposit back because he clearly wasn't going to do the job as originally discussed. He told my husband that we misled him and we needed to compensate him for coming out to our house 3x. My husband said, why would i compensate you? then said, ok, how about I give you $20 for gas. He hung up again. It is clear he is not going to do our job or even discuss it properly.
