Scheduled For my annual driveway sealing. The workers spilled one gallon of motor oil on my ***************** called the owner known to me as *****************************, he was very belligerent, cursing & swearing at me! I called the PD/FD because it was an environmental hazard. FD arrived to control the spill, the PD arrived then ***************************** arrived. Belligerent, cursing & swearing at me again, the police escorted him off my property, I was in fear of a physical altercation. This is absolutely no way to conduct a business!

      Business response

      05/06/2022

Phoenix Sealcoat apologizes for any misunderstanding at Mr.Thomsons home. What ***************** neglected to mention was that the oil in question was his.He had been stockpiling waste oil from what could presumably be from his automotive oil changes,  in obviously less than adequate containers. One particularly old and brittle one must have rolled off the pile of 10 other gallons near the driveway and ruptured upon hitting his Belgium blocks. None of my representatives are prepared to handle his hazmat spills. I told him I would be by in 30 minutes as I was out of the area, and actually arrived in 35, to help him address any of his clean up needs. Since the fire department treated the concern w one bag of speedy dry in 5 minutes and left, I made attempts to help *** ************** sweep up his speedy dry. But let the truth be known..I was annoyed w the fact that *****************  tried to hang  his negligent storage and disposal of his waste oil on Phoenix Sealcoat. We dont bring oil to customers houses. Ever! Nor **** have any interest in dealing with theirs. The oil should have been in more adequate containers, if not taken for recycling immediately, and in a location so as not to put my company or any of its representatives at risk. That being said, I am glad I could help him clean it up. As he is my neighbor, and calls every year, interested in service. It defies explanation. I couldnt get there any faster than I did, to help him resolve his concern! It wasnt a surprise visit. It was scheduled a week in advance. He picked the day. I confirmed early w him the day before and got a ??its unfortunate he couldnt have been any more prepared for service. I just dont know what else I could have done? Its not My Oil! Thanks for your time! BBB: ********************* ID #********

      Customer response

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

      [Your Answer Here]

*irst his employee flat out denied spilling the oil, I could not believe what I was hearing. I said call your boss, he said I did! And his response? He said leave! They drove off, leaving me with a hazardous waste spill! I called **** three times & he was absolutely no help! Im 65 years old & I could not believe how he was talking to me, actually not talking, yelling at me! I said **** if you dont clean this oil spill up, Your forcing me to call in a hazardous spill to the authorities, Do what the * you want to do! Hes yelling at me! So, looking at the damage to my driveway & it was getting worse by the minute, I called it in to the *D/PD, *D responded and dropped 50lbs(2bags) of speedy dry on the oil spill and broomed it for me. *D left & the PD arrived, **** arrived after. **** was beyond mad, totally deranged! I asked the PD to stay because of his behavior, **** continued with his lunacy, belittling, cursing & swearing at me, it got to the point where the police escorted him off my property. I spent 2-3 hours brooming the speedy dry & clean up with hope that my driveway would be ok! Upon inspection today (the following day) my driveway looks terrible! And may need replacement, as the asphalt is soft & oil stained. Im sure a reseal will not work.
