Back in February 2024 I took my car to Leitzell's repair shop. My boyfriend to them to fix whatever needs to be fixed to passed New York State inspection and the exhaust. We have paid $2,300 for everything which was manly the exhaust system. I was told my wheel bearings and everything was fine and safe to drive as they passed the inspection. A month later I take it to two different shops and was told it should have never passed inspection the wheel bearings in the front are shot to the point my two front tires were ready to fall off and frame was rusted out and the exhaust system is all messed up. I reached out to Leitzell's and they have refused to refund me my money back as I was told from two different shops that I should have never put $2,300 into my car.Business response

On 1/30/2024 ***** ***** made an appointment for the 2005 ******* **** for us to check all over, oil change, fix exhaust, nysi and battery. We then got vehicle in checked all over and called ***** with a quote on how much it would be to fix and spoke about the exhaust system having parts that are not available anymore which he agreed on building and replacing as we could and also spoke on how rusty the vehicle was but it was surface rust no holes which he then said the vehicle had been sitting in a field for two years. He then gave us the authorization to fix what was needed as we spoke about. We then replaced front strut assembly's, sway bar links, battery, all four new tires, oil change, NYSI (got ten day) and built pipe and replaced muffler from rear cat convertor back as parts could not be purchased. He then paid and picked up vehicle drove to set monitors and brought back for a completed NYSI. I noted to him on first work order that rear diff was noisy and could not be heard before due to exhaust half missing. He then made appointment on 3/11/2024 and 3289 miles later for a oil change and the exhaust hanging and to check the diff fluid, we fixed exhaust hanger up front that had rotted off at no charge and changed oil and added fluid to rear diff, also noted that the transfer case was noisy and needed front cat convertor gasket, he did not want to do as it has the diff and transfer case problems. Nothing was ever stated or spoke about any other concerns. we then get a call the second week of April from a girlfriend stateing she was calling lawyers and wants a full refund of 2300.00 which all the work was completed by us and approved by customer. There was no wheel bearings bad when we worked on this vehicle and like stated above the car is rusty from sitting two years in a field but not un safe no holes through at any safety spots. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. First off there are holes in the car that doesn’t happen within a month in half of it being at the shop. Wheel bearings do not go bad within a month in half of inspection. We were told this car was safe to drive them we took it to two other shops and they wouldn’t allow it to leave their location because of how unsafe it was. These other shops said we shouldn’t have even put $200 into this car but Leitzell's allowed us to put over $2,000 into it. We also did pay for a section oil change and the differential fluid to be changed in the car which was $90. We can’t even fix the exhaust system because of the way they “fixed” it I have never in my life had wheel bearings go back in a month in a half! Or have holes rot through the car that I could touch the carpet in my car from underneath in a month in half after being told my car was safe to drive! Regards, ***** ******
