      I was displaced from my home for over a month due to mold. The mold was confirmed toxic and my place was deemed unlivable. I sent numerous photos and documentation of how the mold may have originated from a water leak in my closet along with the professional mold test given. There were no tests completed by the apartment to prove that the mold came from condensation, however the adjuster disregarded my documentation and took the word of mouth from an apartment manager who never looked for mold within the wall dwellings of my apartment. My claim was denied and I lost most of my belongings and personal items including furniture from the mold. The adjuster stated the manager informed him it was due to condensation in my denial letter, however the management refused to give me tests to confirm the unit is livable again and there is no justification that it is due to condensation. This experience is devastating and I have lost so many things. I still haven’t lived in my apartment in over a month.

      Cancelled policy when moved on 10/3/24. 10/14/24: check still not received. Called and they said I needed to wait 20 days for the check to arrive. Frustrated!

      Only because I can't leave a zero: This company just canceled my homeowners insurance due to wildfire risk. What a joke. My residence is nowhere near any wildland, forest or grassland. They're canceling it due to my ZIP CODE, which means they think I must live in the mountains instead of a burg just barely outside city limits. I will never recommend them, ever.

      It should be illegal for this company to still be in business. We have been out of our home for (3) full months now and my family is suffering mentally and emotionally. Meanwhile the house continues to take on new damages as they will not release a dime for the contractors so no work has even been started. No phone calls, emails, nothing from this company. We were assigned a new adjuster with knowledge and no contact info. I have never felt so helpless in my life.

      HARD TO WORK OUT CLAIMS .CLAIMS UNTIMELY. CLAIM HARD TO UNDERSTAND CLAIMS TOOK 8 WEEKS. WORK IS NOW DONE.HASLES WITH CONTRACTOR GETTING PAID.

      I have tried to file two claims on my home and they denied them both stating they do not cover mold in the walls from a leak both times. I will never use this company again! What a waste of money for no help at all. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE !

      On 7/12/2024 I submitted a claim for storm damage to our 4-year-old metal roof. The damages to the roof are causing leaks inside the home. On the ceiling and down the walls is water damage and what appears to be mold. This is in every room of the house. On 7/15/2024 Evan M****** (Claims Adjuster) with American Modern Insurance Group came out to take a report and photos of the roof and damages inside and outside the home. After his visit I forwarded him a copy of an estimate from a local roofing company who recommends complete roof repair. During the inspection from the roofing company, they mentioned how that there were soft spots in the roof which indicates that the sheeting underneath the roof is likely rotting. On 7/30/2024 I received a email from the claims adjuster Evan M****** denying the claim. His estimate was 124.00 which would be less than my deductible and there for not covered by insurance. furthermore, future claims on the roof would not be covered.

      Worst home insurance company ever. Adjuster Brian W****** and Supervisor Joanne M******* have no respect. I’ve called multiple times regarding my claim and no response. They lack communication and should not be in business if they are not going to help their paying customers. I wish I could give 0 stars.

      American Modern should be able to have negative stars due to their , lack of communication, lack of transparency in every aspect of their business dealings, and misleading communication. We filed a claim due to extensive flooding in our basement. When we reached out to file the claim, we asked our agent what would be covered under our policy because it was going to determine how we remedied the situation (third party vs. ourselves). We asked a minimum of 3 times about this and all he ever said was that water coming from outside the home wouldn't be covered. Per their own adjustor, there was nothing to indicate that happened and told us he was 99% sure we would be covered. Due to the flooding our sump pump couldn't keep up and failed. They claimed that mechanical failure wasn't covered under our policy. If that's the case, why couldn't our agent have pulled up our policy and told us that when we asked 3 times on a recorded line? Instead he only kept saying water from outside the home wouldn't be covered and we were responsible for mitigating further damage. Now we're stuck with a significant bill from a third party who helped clean out the basement that American Modern is refusing to pay. Additionally, I submitted an appeal on July 3, 2024 and not a single person acknowledged they received it, could tell me what the process was, when I should expect a response, etc. Our own agent didn't even have any info on our appeal. I heard from them 20 days later stating my appeal was denied. And lastly, to speak even more to their lack of transparency and process, we never received our policy and our agent disclosed that our policy was never even signed by me or my husband but they've been accepting our insurance payments since 2023. Now they are wanting us to drive over an hour one way to get a wet signature on a document (the policy) they should have sent us and made us aware of 9 months ago. I would not recommend American Modern to anyone.
