******* **** made the mistake at the point of service on 10/22/21. And it had no right colluding with Lakeview Federal Credit Union to access my account to take away the $500 on 11/4/21. Just like bank customers do not get a do-over, the bank is not allowed to make a second transaction on my account. You are responsible for your own mistakes just as I am and any other bank customer is. I am demanding you be responsible for your own mistakes and transfer $500 into my account immediately.Business response

Dear Dispute Resolution Specialist: Please accept this letter in response to the complaint received by Mr. D. ******* on 01/04/2022. Our records indicate that on 10/22/2021 draft #*** was processed for payment in the amount of $400.00 to the checking account of Mr. ******* ending in ***. Under general banking practices, check processing is automated where items are processed by relying solely on the information encoded in the magnetic ink along the bottom of the item. This means Lakeview Federal Credit Union does not individually examine items to determine if it contains any information other than what is encoded. Using an automated process helps us keep costs down for all of our account holders. On 11/02/2021, the corporate account of Lakeview Federal Credit Union was debited in the amount of $500.00 due to the encoding error of the draft, draft #***, processed on 10/22/2021 for the checking account of Mr. ******* ending in ***. The draft's written legal amount, as well as numeric amount, stated nine hundred dollars and no/100. After review and inspection of the item on 11/04/2021 and consistent with normal banking practices, Lakeview Federal Credit Union processed a credit adjustment of $400.00 followed by a debit adjustment of $900.00 against the checking account of Mr. ******* ending in ***. In conclusion, draft #*** for the checking account ending in *** was paid as intended for the amount of $900.00. We regret that this matter has resulted in our member filing a consumer complaint and deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused Mr. *******.
