I started to talk to Cd Kennedys in September 2022 in regard to upcoming carpet job. He came out to my home measured all of the rooms and told me what the price would be. He told me that he does not pull up carpet if he does that would be extra, I told him I would do that and get back to him. I then reached back out to him on December 28, 2022, that I was ready for him to start on my flooring. We agreed to 2.50 sq over the phone he gave me a price to only to do 288sq (living room and hallway). He was able to come to my home on 1/12/2023 with another guy he then changed the price to 3.00 sq and that I would need to pay him extra 50 to float the floors. I was upset that the price changed and that he was charging me extra 50.00 I said fine now the new total is 947.00 he asked for 1/2 upfront wrote him a check that day for 457.00. He did float the floor, but he didn't do the hallway I sent him a text to let him know that he didn't do the hallway. (1/13/23) The next he did 1/2 of the hallway floating the bathroom doorway. Then he started to lay the flooring in the living room got about little less then 1/2 the room done and said he was going to lunch and would be back. He comes back said that his helper got sick and asked if was ok to come back told him yes and if need be I would help him. I then started to look over his work and noticed that the underlayment was put in wrong. I sent him a text and a video on how it should have been installed. He calls me back and tell me that he got sick to and will come back tomorrow and tell me that he talked to his guy, and I was right he would come back out the next day to fix the problem. He came back on 1/14/23 with another guy on how he should fix the problem I said OK went to the bathroom for less than 5mins looked out the window and saw him pulling away. I walked into the Livingroom and saw all of his tools gone and my front door open. I then texted him asking him to do the right thing by giving me my money bank or a portion.

      Business response

      01/31/2023

1.30.2023. BBB called business spoke to Kennedy H*** ###-###-####. He stated that consumer paid him $457.00 to date. Four hours of prep work needed to be done (which business was not paid for). Mr. K****** went on to say he started to work on installing flooring on first day. He was going to return second day to finish and consumer told him that he would finish work himself. Mr. K****** said the prep and work he has completed is adds up to more than $457.00. Mr. K****** said he is not in agreement to refund the consumer any money.

      Customer response

      01/31/2023

I am rejecting this response because:  I never told him I would finish the floor he did show up the next day to take up the flooring he put down because it was done wrong. When I went to the other room to let him get started, he packed up his tools and left. I sent him a text that he never responded to. Yes, he does owe me my money back because I had to pay someone else to take up the flooring, he laid wrong!

      Regards,
      **** *******
