I am writing this to spare anyone else an outrageous estimate for plumbing work. I purchased a new stylish faucet fixture for my remodeled bathroom, and requested installation. The tech checked the old fixture briefly and reported that it had "dry leaks" which could possibly lead to a mold problem. All this was irrelevant since the new fixture contained all new materials. I subsequently found out by another plumber that I did hire that there was nothing significantly wrong with the old fixture, aside from regular use. Mr. ********************** wanted to charge $236 for each new supply hose, which the plumber I did hire charged me $15 each for the two hoses which he had in his truck. Also, the Mr. ********************** tech said that he needed to turn off the main water valve, and that this would cost $200. Then he said that it had a leak and wanted to fix that for @$1200 before doing any work on the bathroom fixture. The plumber I hired installed the new fixture in the bathroom for less than $200 without having to turn off the main water valve (there are valves under the sink that turn the water off). I had the main valve checked by the Plumber I hired and several other people, and aside from the handle being a little wet, there was no water leakage and does not require immediate attention. The Mr. ********************** tech spent a very short amount of time assessing the work, but at least 20 minutes writing estimates ranging from $600 over $800 for the faucet installation, and then $200 turn the main valve off and replace it for $1200 before he was comfortable doing the faucet installation. I had the feeling that this person had been trained to find anything possible to do to make a sizable estimate. My online search found plenty of plumbers/plumbing companies (I did not think there that many for some reason), and thankfully I found one with integrity who did a wonderful job.Review from Ryan C

Had a shower line break taking out the valve for replacement. They arrived late, asked what our maximum we wanted to spend? Gave estimate of 1189.00 plus tax. As he was asked to leave, the next company showed up. Had $227 in material/parts and $100 in labor. Done in an hour, done right, done quick and did I not try to gouge us. Rip offs, taking advantage of folks.Review from Tony E

They were working on a new septic system for my home. After waiting eighteen months, I caller Mr. Rooter. They said the man working on this project no longer works for them! They would send someone out that afternoon between three and five to see my project. About four o’clock they called and said they no longer do septic systems. No calls from them for eighteen months!!Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Columbus Response

****, we're sorry for any lack of communication. When we spoke with the county on your behalf about the issues you were having with your septic leach field, they had you provide a soil sample, which determined an upgraded system was needed. Unfortunately, this is not a service we can currently provide to you, and we had to decline to continue to work on your project. We understand that this is frustrating, but we want you to receive the very best workmanship possible. We pride ourselves on providing top-of-the-line service, but we are unable to ensure that for this project. We wish you all the best moving forward. Thank you. This is one of the most dishonest companies. They checked the wrong toilet when providing service to our home and performed no work as the toilet was already in good working order. They then charged us $200. As they're SUPPOSED to be certified plumbers you would expect they would let the homeowner know the toilet was fine and needed no attention. We then had to call them to come back out the next day and have them fix the toilet that did need serviced. Which they then charged us an additional $200. This is absolutely a case for bad-faith and we will be filing with the Ohio Attorney general because who knows how many other people they have done this to. If you wish to work with an honest company this is not it.Review from Alice M

We used Mr. Rooter this week to replace 80 year old cast iron sewer pipes in our downstairs basement. The job wasn't urgent but was very necessary for repair. We thank Mr. Rooter for their quick response. The technician came out, gave me several options with reasonable estimates. After reviewing everything with my sister, we called Mr. Rooter back and the technician returned and replaced the pipes all in the same day. The replaced pipes eliminatd ea sewer smell and it looks so much better!! It was a messy job, but I would definitely recommend Mr. Rooter and use their services again if necessary.Review from Thomas C

I will not use again. I believe I was overcharged for all work that was performed. My insurance company did not pay for much and by me signing, I had to pay charges. I advise everyone that is going to use Mr. Rooter, read the fine print when they get the mitigation company at your house with forms to sign. They talk really fast. Just be careful and read every word before you sign. They lost a very good customer. I used to have them do a lot of work, but it ended with my last experience on 07/21/23.Review from Jane G

Please do not use Mr Rooter of Columbus or their restoration company. My husband and I are seniors and my husband is taking cancer treatment . They took advantage of our age and situation. Our septic system backed up and went in our garage and lower floor. They blew out the backup in garage pipe but told us we needed to pull up all pipes in lower level plus floor and walls in family room, stated they needed to replace all the pipes. I asked their salesman/manager ***** ***** if it could wait until tomorrow to talk to my sons. He said and I quote” yes if you don’t mind sh— in your basement again. Also if you want to go to bathroom go to gas station and if you want a shower go to car wash” was going to cost $28400.00. Said we did not have that kind of money so he talked us into a finance company had me sign papers for 12.94% for 15 years. Next day we called finance company to cancel they said they could not and would be sending them a check.finance company ********. Second opinion just clean tank and fix aerator. Dealing with so much they took advantage. And resortation company left all bags they had filled with things waste touch. Should have gone to hazard dump but they left me with about 10 bags. Think this is illegal with waste removal. Still fighting to have finance company to not pay 28400:00 to Mr Rooter. They only blew pipe out and tore of woodwork I told them not to. Contractor thru insurance is sending contractor in to repair the damage they did.I did pay 679.00 to blow out pipe which they asked for immediately. Shame on Mr Rooter,,, also they own ** ******** and the restoration company. Beware!,,,,,,Review from Penny D

This company is the worst. I called them out to snake my toilets. The so-called plumber that showed up did not even look at the toilets. He started recommending things. He had two other guys join him, and they tried to tell me my basement needed to be dug up and the plumbing going to the outside needed to be replaced. They wanted to do a power flush-out (or whatever they call it). It was 'only' going to cost around $900. My husband told them to go ahead. They started in the basement, and when the water backflowed they stopped. They did not complete the job and left a mess in my basement. I will not ever use them again, and will not recommend them to anyone!!!!
