9/8/24 went to Steak n Shake in ****** **. Placed order & paid for 3 meals. After about 45 minutes & no food coming out of kitchen, we and other customers realized that the staff was gone & kitchen was empty.Mgr had walked out & staff went too.About 20 cooked burgers were waiting in back to be dressed. Never have I seen this. Paid $17.84 & received NO food & NO refund. Had to go to ******* & spend more $ to get food.People kept placing orders because no one knew staff had left. Very unprofessional & the same as stealing my money. Crazy, crazy situation. Do not go to this restaurant unless you want to pay & not eat.Business response

I placed an order that was to be ready by 2:14pm I came at 2:44pm and Doors are locked and lights off No answer when tryin to call and they don't have a human resource number to even call to get a refund very unsatisfied and hate feeling robbed by a business for 8 bucksBusiness response

For over two years, I have been trying to get my $37.73 money back from my giftcard balance which I have not been able to use as the phone app will not work, despite attempting to use it in many Steak & Shake outlets and complaining in stores, who all say they can do nothing and go to HQ. I have been unable to contact the HQ by telephone, and my previous email complaint to customer service was to visit a store - so the loop starts againBusiness response

Good afternoon *** ******,
Our office was informed of a BBB complaint filed reference a gift card balance on the app. We’ve had our app support department search the usage and balance on your account (see attached). It appears no activity has been made using the app since October 30, 2019, with a balance of $32.73. We are mailing a physical gift card in the amount of $40 to the address on the BBB complaint.
