We hired In and Out Renovations to paint the entire inside of the house, and the garage doors, outside doors and awnings. We paid him $6500. He did a horrible job. He did not apply full coverage to some areas (can see old paint color; he used a spray gun and painted areas that should not have painted; he didn't do any prep work whatsoever. He painted the kitchen cabinets without removing them. He painted door knobs outside. He did not remove wallpaper in some areas. There were paint drips. He got paint on the electrical box. Because we had to re-paint, we were not able to put the home on the market when we wanted to. We had to hire another company to repaint the entire inside and the areas he painted outside. We want a refund in the amount of $5500.00. We reached out to him via mail (he refused to accept the envelope) and via email and he has been unresponsive. We hired him through Angi's list. They attempted to reach him for the purpose of arbitration but he did not respond.Business response

The work and agreement was excited and carried out. I communicated with this customer about each step and communicated through videos and photos in which they were satisfied. This customer also had multiple contractors working in the home at the same time which was hard for everyone in their attempt to get things done quickly. Once the job was completed and they were satisfied they paid the remaining balance owed. Furthermore they asked for additional work to be done and this is where everything started to go left with communication on their end via text and calls they stop responding for the further work needed and days later complained about the paint job. I’m unsure what the other contracts have done at that point they began to say the work wasn’t done when in fact photos and videos were sent to confirm job done.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First of all, we do not live in the area. We hired him to do the job remotely. We live in Atlanta so we relied on him to do the work and provide photos and videos. He provided videos and FaceTimed througout the process. And only a few times was he there when the flooring guy was working upstairs on the flooring.
Our neighbors, family members and other vendors (including the carpet installer) alerted us to the fact the job was not done properly. Our realtor provided detailed photos of how horrible of a job was done. There was no prep work (in fact when questioned about the prep work, the contractor said he would do that after the fact which is ridiculous). He did not provide full coverage on the walls, there were paint drips, the electrical panel had paint spray on it. He painted a brick wall in the basement and was not asked to do so (and half did that). He didn't even bother to spackle or remove picture hangers. He got paint on the door knobs outside. He did not cover all of the old paint on walls and the outside. We paid the balance when he said he was finished. We took his word and that was a big mistake on our part.
We stopped corresponding to him about additional work once we found out that we were taken for $6500.00! The bottom line is he did a terrible job, and we had to pay someone else to do it the right way. We want a refund of $5500, but he really should pay us the full amount. I don't know how someone can live with themself after doing this to someone.
