Description:Company quoted (in writing) $2270.40 on 8/13/24, which I accepted online via email. Showed up on 8/21/24 to do work and advised he forgot to add in for a small replacement piece & to dig under sidewalk. Said it would be another $450.00 because it is very difficult to dig under sidewalk. Said the job would take 2 days to complete.

Affordable Gutters and Drains provided top notch service to this customer. Prior to starting the work, we realized there was additional work needed to dig under an additional sidewalk. We provided a new estimate to the customer and spent time walking the property and discussing the project with Ms. ******* husband. At the time the service was completed, Mr. ***** stated he was happy with the work and provided us payment while on the property before we had even sent a final bill for payment. Since the company provided the entire scope of work and the customer paid the entire bill prior to us leaving the job site, we do not feel responsible for returning any money as the job was fairly priced for the scope of work required. We respectfully decline Ms. ******* solution. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: they did NOT provide "top notch service " as they claimed. Part of "top notch service" would be being respectful to your customers and he most certainly  was not! He absolutely did NOT walk the property and discuss this with my husband. As I previously stated, my husband has ****************************** and is not able to easily communicate in these situations. The "discussion" was with ME and I did NOT approve this additional cost and they know that. Once again, as I said, I paid them to keep my husband from  experiencing further anxiety. If he would have stated that he forgot to add this charge, AND if it became difficult to dig out under the "STANDARD SIZE sidewalk," there MAY be an additional charge but NOT the $450 since this was HIS APPARENT ERROR. That would have been "top notch" customer service. This is NOT an acceptable response and I do not accept it!

With all due respect this is untrue response. We are a very customer service oriented company and have hundreds of return customers we work with every year. We apologize that you were not happy but this should have been a conversation prior to paying your invoice. We stand behind our work 100%.

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: I absolutely WOULD NOT HAVE paid your invoice had you not caused my husband (with ******************************) UNDUE stress.
Clearly you have no conscience about the fact that you are a "bait and switch" company. Continue to treat customers this way...you won't be in business much longer! I will certainly make sure to warn my neighbors, friends and all my clients about your business practices!
      Regards,

Today, this company cleaned the debris off the tops of the gutter covers with a yard blower and did not open the gutters nor take down the downspouts to check for clogs, even though I explained this is what I wanted them to do. They emailed me a bill for $300.00. I had them blow off the gutters about 7 or 8 years ago. This is where they got my name to send me a card. I was looking for a gutter downspout cleaner because I was saw water pouring out over the edges of the roof instead of into the gutters. Also, I had one corner of the basement that was wet. A roofer told me last year that I had clogged gutters and downspouts. He was working on damage from a raccoon and showed me the clogged gutter. I stayed outdoors and watched them on purpose and I never saw either man look into the gutters or a downspout. Not one! They just blowed the tops of the gutters off. He even tried to sell me on the idea I needed an in-ground drain inspection, for more money. I didn't bite. I am 84 and have been swindled. I am also an attorney and intend to report this to the county sheriff and the city police. I read the report that the lady filed with you dated 3/26/2023. He swindled her also.

On 05/05/2023 Ms. ******* called our company to schedule a gutter and downspout cleaning. She had received the spring mail out flyer advertising the gutter cleaning and underground drain services we offer. After speaking with her we scheduled her for a gutter cleaning on 05/16/2023. On 05/16/2023 our owner and a tech went to her address and completed the cleaning of her gutters and downspouts. All gutters were cleaned, and downspouts were tested for flow. At that time the owner had a conversation with Ms. ******* regarding normal things like knee replacements and everyday items. In addition to that he discussed with her the issues with her underground drain lines based on previous statements from another company as well as issues she was having in and around the home. While we did do a thorough job of cleaning the gutters and downspouts, the issues she is having with water is in her underground drains, which she did not want to do at that time. Ms. ******* did send an email regarding her concerns on the evening of 05/16/2023. On 05/17/2023, we called Ms. ******* regarding her email had a conversation regarding her concerns, and we did explain to her the thoroughness of her cleaning but also let her know that the drains are separate and if she doesn't want to use our company that is perfectly fine, but the issues will not be resolved until she has a company handle the issue. We were under the impression that since Ms. ******* paid her bill immediately online and had conversation with the owner at her home, she was happy with the service and would be calling later for the drains. Imagine our surprise when we received this BBB complaint. We are happy to extend an offer to Ms. ******* for the owner to come out and assist with the drain issue as previously quoted, however the work she has already paid for was completed so we cannot offer a refund for those services.

I am rejecting this response because: I had 3 neighbors watching the downspouts, as well as myself following the owner around the yard.  No one touched the downspouts, as this guy says was done.  I have witnesses.  Also, he ran water into one drain opening UNDER one downspout, not at the top of it.  It flowed freely to the street.  He verbally diagnosed both sets of drains and said that he would need to use a camera to see if they were clogged, and yet, he was the one to show me the free-flowing water exiting at the street.  I reiterated that my concern was with the downspouts and gutters.  He assured me they were "fine" without even looking at them.

I again told him that my problem was with sheets of water flowing OVER the tops of the gutters from the roofs when it rained.  The cascading rainwater was killing the grass exactly under the edges of the roof, as well as a wet corner of the basement wall.  He fast talked his way around my statements, mostly ignoring them, only to go back to trying to get me to commit to $199 for the camera inspection of the free-flowing drain.  I am an attorney, and I know a con.  That's why I just let him talk on. I have another company coming to inspect the gutters and downspouts.  Depending on what they find, I will sue or not.  I want my money back and others to be waned about him.

We believe that maybe there is some confusion on Ms. *******'s part as to the exact parts of the gutters, downspouts and drains. The gutters and downspouts were cleaned and are clear. The leak is being caused from the underground drains however Ms. ******* refused that service at the time we were at her home. We have been very thorough and did provide all the services listed on our mail out advertisement as we do every time. Unfortunately, we do not have any additional information to provide at this time as appears the conversation has resulted in no progress. We do hope that when Ms. ******* has another company come out and when they give her the same exact information, she will reconsider the next time she attempts to cause hardship to a small family-owned business working it's way back from the impacts of COVID.
