I talked to Avenger Pest Control about a bed bug problem. They told me the inspection would cost $50.00 and that I would get three treatments for $600.00. I had them send a technician to my home on May 19th. He went over what he would do. At the time I did not agree to let them do the work because I wanted to talk to another pest control company. The Avenger technician told me I was getting a good deal and he even divided the $600.00 by three visits to show that I could not get a better deal. I called Avenger later and told them I would like for them to do the work. Well after two treatments the technician said that I clear of bed bugs. I asked him what about the third treatment since I had paid for three. He said I was clear and that the only other way to see if I had any more bed bugs would be to bring in a dog to sniff them out. He said the cost of bringing a dog would be $1500.00 I later called ****** at Avengers and he scheduled me and appointment for a third treatment but then called back the next day to say that I was in the clear. I told him I paid for three treatments, and he said that I was cleared of bed bugs. What Avenger did was not right. They verbally told me I would get three treatments and the technician put it in his evaluation that I would get three treatments. Avenger owes me another treatment or a refund that would equal the cost of the third treatment.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

The offer of 200.00 dollars for possible future services does not resolve the issue. For one I don't know if I will ever need any type of pest control service and I don't know if I would pick Avengers (depending on services needed) and if I did pick Avengers, how do I know if they would not increase the price by 200.00 dollars to compensate for reimbursing me 200.00 dollars. I would expect that Avengers should just refund me the 200.00 since they were supposed to do three treatments and only did two.

      Regards,

I scheduled an appointment for the company to send someone out to evaluate a bee problem. Appointment was scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th and they would let me know the day before what time. They gave me a price of $269. I mentioned that I thought I might have a chipmunk problem too. I was told they could look at both. My son surprised me by doing my yardwork on aThursday and said he had noticed the bees are gone and he had plans to deal with the chipmunks. I had serious problems with my phone from Sunday through today, but realized I needed to call Avenger and cancel the appointment. I called today, May 18th and was told I would be charged $249 if I cancelled the appointment but I had to cancel. The money was withdrawn from my account within the hour. I am devastated that someone can charge that much for a cancellation of what I thought would be a survey and proposal appointment. I am 76 years old and on Social Security. With inflation as bad as it is, this is very difficult. I would expect a charge for cancelling the appointment but I think 92% of the price for a service that was cancelled and thus not provided is very harsh and unreasonable.

      Dear ******** *******,

When services are contracted and scheduled we rely on our clients to follow thru on what is signed as we do to fulfill our contractual agreement to said client.  After 3 days the contract is charged and services are performed.  If everyone could just get out of a contract then we would be out of business.  We have a credit for services on your account if pest control is needed within the next 12 months from date of contract signature.  We understand the economic impact we are all experiencing from service to consumers.

Thank You for reaching out and we hope to provide you world class service in the future.

      Thank You

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] I am so disappointed that this business charged me for a full service when they did  nothing for the money they took. To inform me that I have a “credit” for services that I don’t need is useless.  I could understand it if they charged me a portion of the charge. In these times of financial hardship, this company has shown it does not value customer relations. They incurred no expense for this. I, however am out $249. I feel that I have been treated very unfairly. Avenger Pest Control is not a company I would recommend.
