On July 13 2022 Rob R*** 513_Concrete started work on an agreed patio pour as well as other work at my home. At finish of pour and install things looked great. On January 28th 2023 I let rob know that multiple pieces of brick had fallen off the wall and cracked. Rob wasn’t sure the reasoning however said he would fix the problem. After multiple failed attempts at getting him to fix the issue all of which have been saved for my records, he has yet to fix the problem. The wall is falling apart before our eyes and the wall mounted fire pit was installed incorrectly so it is not serviceable. This will be my last attempt to have him rectify the situation before I move to litigation to get the wall entirely replaced along with other poor workmanship on my patio.Business response

17x19 ft patio poured on 7/13/2022, 12” border, Diamond design pattern cut. Owner Robert R crushed off an 8 ft x 1 ft section of my blacktop driveway hauling in the cement with his bobcat, Cut the Diamond design on the concrete with a large hand held cement saw using no guide, and no setting for cut depth. Multiple chips, some large, points at cross lines broken off in every line, the cuts without using a depth setting for the blade on his saw caused the cut lines to range from1/4 in to 2.5 inches along every cut line. The total depth of this concrete slab is 3.5 inches. So in some places the cuts are well over 50% of the total depth of the cement pad.Cut lines are crooked and double cut marks from starting and stopping many times, my wife and I observed Robert R cutting this wearing sunglasses and no mask, we complained immediately and that’s when Robert R made the comment that, Once you put your patio furniture on, you won’t see it. On Friday July 15th, I text Robert R and said the patio is unacceptable and we would like a refund, Robert R Responded by text, If you don’t like it that much, I will return the money in full and remove concrete and put back the way it was when I started, no problem. I text back, how soon can you do that, That is exactly what I want. He text back, I will take care of it as soon as I can, depending on rain Monday, which would have been the 18th. He added, no hurt feelings. In next text he said I am so sorry for the chips, I have been upset myself because I could tell you guys were not pleased with my work. I text back saying Mon, Tues, Wed is fine, I will use this message as an agreed settlement. The next day on July 16th he sent a text saying he wasn’t going to remove it. He has sent several other texts wanting try different things trying to hide all that is wrong , he even said before he can’t fix the broken off points or the big chips. There are multiple other things, I have copies of all the texts and pics to back this.Business response

This is the first time anything like this has happen to me me in five years of business by myself so I did not know what to do. Told them there are fixes for the chips but they are not willing to even let me come back and detail the cuts. I did damage the black top driveway but also patched it back with black top. The lady paid me in full after I saw cut and we went over everything with her she told my guys that she liked it and it looked good. When I come back to wash the dust off the patio I could tell they was not very happy. Which was a surprise to me since she paid in full after I saw cut. The cuts are deeper at the house to get the saw closer and so you get a good starting point for the control cuts. Me and my crew thought the patio was really nice. I have fixes for the saw cuts but they are not willing to let me back. Told the I can detail edges and caulk the cuts. It’s a fully functional patio beside some minor chips. A full refund is not in reason after seeing how much it cost me to put this patio in. I can fix the issues if there will to work with me or allow me on the property. And after thinking I can not demo the patio because I would be afraid of doing more damage to driveway that I can’t be responsible for. It’s a fully functional patio that looks great with a stamped boarder looks amazing. I have to saw within 24 hours of pour to cover my behind and sometimes concrete chips especially when ya put that many cuts in a small patio. Which I went over with them before I cut the patio. Because the wanted to do a different pattern which would of caused more chipping in the middle. Because of the amount of lines they wanted coming to one spot. I warned them of that and now they money back for chips. This was all gone over be cuts where made.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.
My wife did not say anything about liking this at all, he was not surprised at all when he came back to wash this, he again tried to explain the chips and crooked cuts and messing up… we rejected his attempt and told to leave… my wife paid because he said he wanted his money, my wife paid not wanting any altercation from him or his crew and wanted a receipt at which time he said he didn’t give receipts, so she had him sign his estimate paper so she had proof ….. he tried a rotor tool to smooth edges at the time we complained and even his own employee yelled for him to stop it was worse, my wife yelled to stop also….. it was the next day that he offered the full refund and removal..he himself said there is no fix for the big chips, crooked lines and he recommended the Diamond pattern because he said my wife’s pattern would break at points, he said nothing about breaking points or chipping with the Diamond pattern he and his employee suggested and my wife approve that pattern over hers…. These are lies from Robert R to try to cover his bad work…saw cuts should never be that deep in concrete, it reduces the integrity a lot and will cause early cracking of the pad…Google it Robert R… these are lies, there are no fixes and all he wants is to temporarily hide his unprofessional job … unacceptable…. His agreement to refund and remove was accepted, his renigging on that is in violation of Ohio Revised codes 1345.02 & 1345.03 ….. my wife is in shock that he actually lied saying she was happy with this patio…. Purely 100% lies from Robert R…
