Classic Chevy in Mentor, OH charged me diagnostic fees for a four year period of "check engine light" issue. The check engine light issue was never resolved. They also charged me for charging the air conditioning that was also not fixed. The service manager lied about repairs and resolutions to those repairs while still charging a diagnostic fee.

      *** ********

Mrs. ***** has been bringing her vehicle to us for service since new. Her 2015 Sonic had 134,602 miles on it as of 7/17/2024. We have worked on her vehicle twice for air conditioning. Once to recharge a low system ($298.26) and a second time just driving it confirm that it is operating perfectly which I drove it for 1.5 hours (no charge).  On the check engine light concern we have charged her for five repairs. The most recent repair was a camshaft solenoid fault which was caused by low oil pressure due to the vehicle being low on oil ($92.50). The next prior repair was the camshaft actuator solenoid replacement for 380.28 which we diagnosed on the previous visit. The next prior service was that diagnosis for the camshaft solenoid and we charged her $180.00. The next prior visit was a failed purge valve which we charged $245.71 for replacement with diagnosis. The next previous check engine light she paid for was a wiring harness repair from rodents that got into her engine compartment and chewed some of the wires in half. Considering the amount of miles on the vehicle I really don't think the repairs are excessive and a diagnosis is required on every repair to isolate the failure. I have her entire history on the car which I can send if you would like to review them.

Went here since my truck needed some repairs since the warrenty company said they accept there policy. Dropped my truck off and they contacted the warrenty company to ensure there was coverage, after a couple calls back n forth the warrenty claims adjuster told the facilty that the claim would need to be reviewed and that they would contact then after the review. After review they claims adjuster contacted the facilty and explain there will be no assistance on the mechanical claim. Was charged $410 due to the facility doing the diagnostic without waiting for the response from the warrenty. I don't think I should have to pay this due to the fact that they were told to wait

I was charged for 6 hours of labor that was never done. That’s a total of $1040 in labor. Screenshots of the times I gave the ok to start working on car at 4pm. They close at 7pm. Open at 7am and then when they called to tell me my car was ready at 12:57pm. That’s a total of 8.5 hrs of work at $165 per he for labor. I was charged for 14.5 hrs of labor. It’s physical impossible to have been worked on that long.

      Hello *******,
On 11/29/2022 ***** ******* brought her 2011 Equinox to Classic Chevrolet for a check engine light and possible timing chain issue.

She authorized and signed for us the diagnose the concern which involved disassembly of the engine to determine the failed components. There were four failure codes which were caused by worn timing chains, balance shaft chains, leaking fuel pump and failed timing actuator. We also recommended actuator solenoids and service of the PCV orifice inside the intake manifold to prevent future issues. She was called that afternoon and given a complete estimate for repairs. She advised her us that her Mom was going to help with the repairs so she needed to call her first. That afternoon at 4:02 she called back authorizing the repairs.

The Technician installed all the recommended parts and reassembled the engine the next day,  she was called at 12:57 to let her know the repairs were completed. She called back stating  the job was completed too quickly and we didn’t install all the parts we were supposed to. I met with a family friend who was very knowledgeable in the automotive field the next day to go over all her concerns. I showed him detailed parts diagrams accounting for every part and a printout of the correct labor time the job pays per Alldata labor time guide which is the industry standard. He agreed everything was correct and stated she was going through rough times therefore couldn’t afford the repair. We shook hands , he paid the bill and picked up the vehicle.

      Sincerely
