My wife and I hired Mark Ramunno (Custom Designed Homes by Mark Ramunno also NEOCC Inc.) to build our home in Poland, OH. Moved into home March 2022. We discovered that none of our Pella Impervia windows were properly installed/sealed with flashing tape, caulk as according to Pella installation instructions. Several events lead to this discovery: 12/24/22, ice forming on baseboards master bedroom. 3/3/23, dining room window leaks inside. M. Ramunno's son caulked trim boards above the window. 4/24/23 a family room window leaks. 7/19/23 second follow up with Mark Jr. on FR window. He contacted Carter Lumber, window supplier. Carter had Pella subcontractor crew inspect window for leaks. 10/1/23 Pella sub crew confirmed leak. 10/26/23 Carter advised us Pella would replace the FR window. 1/9/24 DR window leaking again. Mark Sr. thinks it's a window issue. 2/27/24 Pella sub crew replaced FR window, found: THE WINDOW WAS NOT SEALED WITH FLASHING TAPE. None of our windows were properly flashed according to Pella instructions. Pella advised would not honor window warranty. M. Ramunno, tried to shrug it off as not important. Eventually, M. Ramunno had a crew properly seal/flash all windows that were vinyl sided. M. Ramunno did not have his crew seal/flash the leaking DR window. Said Mark Jr. did tape that window, thinks it must be a window issue. Neither Pella nor Carter would offer us any financial help, since none of the other windows were properly sealed. We hired Pella sub crew to properly seal the DR window. They found the window did have flashing tape, but method was incorrect. Top piece of flashing tape was overtop house wrap instead of underneath the wrap. House wrap was torn open exposing the wall board. Water ran underneath the house wrap and the tape causing the leak. See attached pictures. Pella sub crew properly flash taped, caulked the window, cost $400. We are only asking that M. Ramunno do the right thing reimburse us for the $400.Initial Complaint
