I stupidly called ********* **** and they hooked me up with United Consumer Financial. I did all the paperwork for ********* **** and they told me to set up an account with the IRS. I had done this previously --to contacting ********* ***. They hooked me up with United Consumer Finance, and now they are saying I owe them 5,000.00 for their work and ********* *** did what they were supposed to do. I live on SSI and so is my husband. We have many bills and I owe the IRS. I thought they would give me good advice, but they just repeated what I already knew. Now the supervisor Eric ******* said they sent me a notice they were not going to continue my case. They dropped me. I sent Consumer Finance his email Consumer Finance claim they did their job and I owe them 5,000.00 for a loan which I signed. But my husband did not sign it. I can't seem to get rid of these people and they are charging me finance charges. I don't know what to do. It all seems very unfair. I can't find anyone to talk to, they just keep repeating the same thing to me. Both of them, ********* *** and United Consumer Financial. They are both rip offs, of old folks.Review from Denise D

I had first contacted ********e tax for owed back taxes, I canceled, I asked ********e tax if they would contact United Consumer Financial Services, ********e said that was my responsibility. On the day that I canceled with ********e July 2, 2024 I emailed the canceled letter from ********e to United Consumer Financial Services, they did not respond. I mailed a copy of the canceled letter from ********e and my request to cancel my contract on July 29th. I received an email from United Consumer August 7th that I had a past due balance and to contact them. I sent an email indicating I had canceled the contract and I called United Consumer Financial Services, the representative indicated I had to contact ********e to tell them to cancel the contract. The reason I am contacting the BBB neither company is willing to cancel ********e indicates the responsibility is mine, United is indicating I have to contact ********e I am getting the run around. I have done all that I can do and neither wants to stop the service and both are threatening my credit will be affected for non payment. ThanksReview from Gail P

I was contacted in September of 2023 by ******* *** ***** that informed me the government was about to start garnishing my wages due to a tax debt. In order for the "tax group" to negotiate the debt down with the government for me, I was told it would cost me $8000.00-$10,000.00 which ******* *** ***** charged. When I explained I could not afford that they connected me via telephone with United Consumer Financial Services in order to secure a loan through them. United Consumer Financial Services received from me an initial $300.00 payment followed by 3 more $300.00 payments in October, November and December. In December after no further communication from ******* *** ***** I started worrying. Absolutely nothing was happening concerning my tax debt and after several attempts to contact ******* via telephone I got nowhere and was frequently disconnected. I immediately contacted United Consumer Financial Services to make them aware that I was being scammed and would no longer need the loan. They, in turn told me I was still responsible for the loan even though I never received a loan, rather I paid them $1200.00. For the last 7 months I have been harassed with emails, phone calls and letters from United Consumer Financial Services that I am still responsible for the loan. I was able to successfully dispute two of the $300.00 payments through my bank, so they did get $600.00 from me. In my several attempts to communicate with them I have spoke with a different person every time and at one point was told ******* just needed to contact them and let them know I was no longer using their services. I tried that as well and nothing has happened to date. I am still being harassed. Now I have been scammed twice.Review from Heather P

They don't even deserve a star-SCAM – AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Tax Relief Advocates (TRA)-- their tax prep work is faulty, they steer you towards predatory financing by their third-party financing company UCFS at 19.99% interest, and they do not honor their advertised “money-back guarantee. In January of 2022, I contracted with them to submit an Offer in Compromise letter to the IRS for the $6,000 in taxes that I owed and prepare both my husband’s and my 2022 federal and state income taxes. They charged me $2,500 for their services. They botched our 2022 taxes and charged us another $2,800 to “represent” us for taxes we did not even own the State of Kansas. Another SCAM. Kansas sent us a letter stating we owed $8,000 and threatened to put a lien on our home. In March of 2023, we discovered the error ourselves and hired an independent accountant to correct our federal and state income taxes. We also learned that TRA never filed an Offer and Compromise letter for me with the IRS. When confronted with their errors. TRA said they would only refund part of what we paid them, and any settlement money had to be used to pay off their third-party finance company UCFS. TRA ended up costing us THOUSANDS and UCFS dinged our credit as we disputed the second contract based on TRA’s errors. With that money we could have already paid off the IRS. Both TRA and UCFS have dishonest business practices and are scammers!Review from Robert C

Horrible! I had contacted a Tax Relief company thinking I could use some help paying off a tax debt. When I found out how much they were going to charge me I decided not to pursue the help. I told them no thanks and this was before I submitted their client profile form and before I sent them the description of my tax issue. Then I started receiving notices from United Consumer Financial Services Company stating my payments were going to be extracted from my account on a monthly basis. Trying to talk to them or the Tax Relief company has not fixed the situation.Review from Maria G

I created an account to relief my taxes from 2022 that I wasn't able to pay, I used this website *****************************/ everything looks legit so far, supposedly the tax reduction was more than a half of my debt so I am paying to them, the only thing is that I am charged by this company United Consumer Financial Services enlisted like a big financial scam, nowadays I am not sure if I am just paying monthly to UCFS in vane or actually my tax relief from America's Choice Tax is relieved. I don't even know how to corroborate this information, the whole process was easy, and as I said I hope is legit, I am a little scared because I am still "paying my taxes" through them, Idk much about how this works or how to corroborate all I agree and permissions with them.Review from Danielle B

I was sold a product under false pretense and my documentation doesn't match the company. I was told my product would be one price and wasn't. I was told $1400+ taxes but I was charged over $2000. Mind you the representative came to my door asking if he could come in and explain and show me the product only for him to tell me that I had to purchase a $2000 product after he finished because he opened it. I was not interested in.a high product and he got in the phone with his boss I assume to then turn around to tell about the product.. I was assured I wasn't financing the product that I was purchasing it for $1400 flat out. So I had to speak to someone to give them my bank information and that was that. My credit monitoring went off yesterday and it showed me that I was charged over $2000 ,for a Kirby vaccumm cleaner and when I called the company they documentation they had didn't match mines. I found out I was entered into a financing contract. She then gave me information to contact the actual manufacturer itself and they told me they didn't have anything to do with. The information that they have gave me from search from the serial number off the product. I was able to find the company online to find out I have no contract. Lastly as I'm looking at the bbb website trying to find a way to that website.Review from Oscar O

I had an account for a little over two years I payed it off back in May I followed instructions to turn off aurmto pay and come the end of the month was charged for another installment. I called to advise them and they assured me it would get refunded. Well here we are in August and I've yet to see my 200 plus payment which was taken out of my checking account without authorization. I contacted my bank and because I had trusted UCFS to rectify their error it was too late for my bank to deny the charge. Becarful with this Company.Review from Kevin W

My mother passed away and as a result I was late on my payment because I was tending to my family. Who knows if I was contacted, I was busy.. dealing with the death of my mom. In case you're wondering if they will help you remove the flag on your credit report the answer is NO. They won't even speak to management and they also told me that they will deny any appeal I make to the flag on my credit report should I choose to dispute it. Just be aware that if anything goes wrong with your payments prepare to be screwed. In case you were wondering if there is a shred of humanity left in these kinds of company the answer is also NO. I've officially filed a complaint with the consumer protection agency of my state. I'm next prepared to submit a dispute to the credit agencies and if needed higher a lawyer. You don't get to screw the little guy, I know my rights.
