My ex-wife and I helped my daughter buy a home which needed extensive remodeling. I have been rehabbing homes for over 20 years and handled the remodeling of this home. The finish of the tub was not good and someone had previously put what looked like a do-it-yourself epoxy finish on it that was peeling. Normally I would have replaced the tub, but thought it was worth considering having it coated since it had a tile tub surround that would have required a fair amount of labor and material to redo. I gave my ex a coupon from Tubz that came in our monthly coupon mailer. It was for 299 for a tub makeover. I threw the coupon away I had. I included the most recent one as an attachment but it is at the increased price of $329. My ex had ******* the owner, come out in early June to check it out. He quoted her $500 to recoat it, saying the additional cost was due to having to strip the finish someone else had previously applied. We both thought the price was high but reluctantly agreed to it in the interest of saving time on the project. The work was done on 7/22/24 and I arrived when he was nearly done. He was pleased to tell me he didn't need to recoat it as he stripped the old paint and the old finish cleaned up well, only requiring sealing. My ex showed up shortly thereafter and he told her the same. I did not inspect the work up close before he left and was unaware he charged my ex so much when he did not recoat the tub as originally quoted. I noticed many areas where the old finish was not removed. I advised her to put a stop payment on the check as he did not do the work quoted, did a poor job of stripping the old finish, and damaged our bathroom sink. She did not do so, instead opting to contact him. He has not answered nor returned her calls, nor mine. I have sent him multiple emails with no response. He clearly has no intention of making things right. His ad even states a 5 year warranty and 3000 happy customers with no complaints. What a joke! Can you help?Business response
