I enrolled in *** for the Fall of 2012 semester. After that enrollment and a week prior to classes starting, I was hospitalized due to a serious medical condition. I remained hospitalized for 2.5 months. I never attended a single online class at ***, never purchased any books, and was unable to withdraw during the time I was hospitalized. I applied for Disability Discharge of my student loans not long after that and that discharge was later approved. ORU claims that I still owe them money for classes I was enrolled in for Fall A AND Fall B semesters and that I was not administratively withdrawn until AFTER Fall B was completed. 11 years later and I am doing better and want to go back to school to finish my degree yet ORU refuses to release my transcript because of this collections account. Not only was this discharged, but I did not attend one single class AND the statute of limitations has expired on any type of collections. I cannot enroll for the Fall 2024 semester without this transcript.Customer response

The US Department of Education has recently signed into law ?668.14(b)(33)-"Prohibition of Transcript Withholding". In the semester that ORU claims I owe them money, I received Title IV aid in the form of Federal Pell Grants and Federal Student Loans. The student loans were discharged due to disability in 2017. ORU claims that these alleged charges were for the "Fall B" semester-which I never attended one single class. For that matter I never attended any classes in the Fall A semester either because I was in the hospital for 2.5 months. I never submitted one assignment and, per the institutions on rules, would have been administratively withdrawn prior to the Fall B semester ever beginning, within the first 3 weeks of classes. I never attended an online discussion group, submitted an assignment, participated in an online exam, contacted the instructor, or participated in a study group. There was absolutely no ongoing academic engagement because I was hospitalized and completely unable to participate or drop/withdraw from classes. ORU not Administratively Withdrawing me and subsequently charging me for classes that I never attended is borderline fraud where the US Department of Education is concerned.
