This company is awful. After my Mother passed away, I was harassed by this company, by letter's, calls and paper stuck on my door. This all began happening 3 days after my Mother passed away. Then when we obtained a Mortgage to payoff the reverse mortgage to keep my Mothers home, which she left me in her will. We asked for a payoff quote as we were going to ba able to close in three days. I spoke to a supervisor and she refused to send it right away so we could close on our Mortgage. Now we have to wait. She was cruel, heartless and not helpful at all! This company is just out for as much money as they can get from you.Review from ejpb2024

On July 09, 2024, I applied for a HomeSafe Reverse Mortgage with Loan Officer, ******* ********** NMLS ID: *******, my experience throughout the application process was not bad in the beginning, however, in the end, it was denied due to inaccurate information without allowing me to clarify my home situation and appraiser results. On the day of the appraisal inspection by the company, Class Valuation, the inspector did not do a detailed inspection as I thought they would, and only took pictures of each bedroom including the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Throughout the visit, the inspector did not bring up any concerns or questions, and just completed it without any problems, or so I thought. Post-inspection, Ms. ********* contacted me with the results and told me that my loan application was denied right off the bat because on the report it stated that my home was still a licensed residential home, which was not true at this time. According to her, the appraisal company found this information online through a non-verified senior living listing that had my address on it when I did not even know this listing existed. Also, the business name on the website is not even my old registered business name but a false one. As of now, that listing was taken down as I was disturbed that my address was used without my authorization on a public website. Despite explaining this to Ms. ********** she continued to stick with the results of the appraisal report and ended the conversation there. After that conversation, it was difficult to contact her by phone nor did she reply to my emails. Being disappointed with this result, I wished Ms. ********* and the appraisal company had asked me to verify whether my home was still a licensed facility or not. I wouldnt have minded if I was denied due to other legitimate reasons but this reason alone was just irritating since it resulted from old/inaccurate information.Review from Brad V

This company provides no easy access to make payments against rising interest charges. We want to make monthly payments so that our equity is not exhausted. Phone numbers provided are all AI and there is no way to contact live customer support for assistance on paying equity loan amounts. All phone numbers provided hang up on you.Last month I was taken through a convoluted process in order to find the current interest charge plus taxes and insurance to make one monthly payment. I can not find my way through the site again to find that account information. Now, I am being forced to pay $15,000 with no option for a lower amount and no knowledge of what this amount is. At the time we took out the loan through AAG, we were told about the ease of payment options. This is a lie. In attempting to file a customer complaint they will not provide the email to do so or contact to do so.The phone numbers provided at customer service all hang up on me with no option to speak to customer support directly. In addition to filing this BBB complaint, I am also escalating this to the State of Oregon ************************* and to our State Senators. This company should not be allowed to operate in our state. There were lies at the time of the equity loan origination and although the loan statement I copied from last month's payment reports that Monthly Reverse Mortgage Statement Finance of America Reverse LLC has the loan, I now discover there is another company called Celink. So, even their reporting documents appear to be fraudulent.Very questionable business practices. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do business with this company, ever! I am regretting I ever did.Finance of America Reverse, LLC Response

This company lies about their loans. I was told one thing and the opposite occurred. This had to do with my property taxes. Speaking with them on the phone was a chore. I was spoken over, ignored my wishes, transferred me around like I was a nobody, then hung up on me on several occasions. ********************* should be ashamed of himself for selling lies. This company abuses their so called clients. Very questionable business practices. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do business with this company, ever! I am regretting I ever did.Review from Rev Dr Zenobia B

I am 74 years old! This company AAG (Finance Of America Reverse, LLC) tried to take advantage of me by Low Balling. I called AAG inquiring about a Reverse Mortgage. After, going through their process of numerous conversations on the phone, filling out lots of papers, going through many phone interviews and going through HUD counseling in my home, sending all my documents to them. This company AAG (Finance of America Reversed , LLC) appraised my home twice only to find out that this company is lowballing. This company AAG ( Finance of America Reverse, LLC) did two appraisal of my home! The first appraisal was for &285,000 and in the same week, they did a second appraisal it came back $210,000. Which is a $75,000, difference! Also, they told me by federal law they have to send me a copy of both appraisals and to this day they have only sent one of the appraisal…the lowest appraisal. I started to feel like I was dealing with an abuser! I wrote them a letter of rejection of the Reverse Mortgage offer and told them their appraisal tactic and practices were unexceptionable! I do not recommend this company for a Reverse Mortgage! Be careful!Review from Sandy M

Worst Business Experience in all my 65 years! Rampant incompetence and disorganization! TOTAL LACK of CUSTOMER CONCERN. Loan Officer simply a messenger to try to smooth over all the misinformation. No Process or Procedures. Contacted them in Feb- they missed end of April, May close dates and did not fund until 6/3! Constant paper chase too often find Not Needed! Lots of Equity in my home? excellent credit (738)? verifiable income? 65? WORST NIGHTMARE BUSINESS TRANSACTION EVER!!!! At one point wanted two people to swear my deceased wife of Four years never was married to anyone else nor had kids!!!! (I couldn’t make this up!) then decided not necessary. Notary had to come out twice on regular papers because he missed a couple pages!!! Why you ask didn’t I go somewhere else? Because once you start this nightmare you are pretty much committed- you will have already sent them a forest or two of useless paper! Your appraisal and some other docs will expire and you will have to pay Again for these! ***AAG is now part of FINANCE OF AMERICA***** RUN!!!!!! AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!Review from Alorandee G

Horrible experience trying to get funds after repairs have been completed. My contractor has been waiting for over a month to be paid. Every time I call I am told it’s being uploaded. I have basically been called a liar after telling them what a agent told me a week ago. I found out she didn’t do her job but no one owns up to any mistakes. I made it all up I guess. I littering got so angry I hung up on the last agent because he was very demeaning. All I want to do is pay my contractor what is owed to him. They asked for pictures and I have sent them twice. This is horrible!!! I need help with this companyReview from Thomas M

We entered into a reverse mortgage with Finance of America-Reverse 18 months ago for my house and 25 acres. At the time I was very pleased. BUT when I tried to sell an adjoining parcel of 55acres, I discovered FAR had mistakenly included that in the description of the mortgaged property and would not release it unless I paid off the entire loan. With only days to close the sale, I paid off the loan. I feel cheated out of those dollars I paid to put the loan in place, the fixed interest rate of 3%, and the mental anguish caused by FAR's error, and the inability to reach anyone at FAR with any interest in the problem it had caused or with any authority to correct it. Beware FAR is very good at shielding senior management from any interaction with the customer and the public.
