On February 17th, 2023, I purchased a home in the *********** community in ******, ******. I was told that the home used well water, serviced by Merrill Water systems. My neighbors informed me that the water was often shut off, due to punctures in the water lines, construction, or other issues. They advised me to bring in outside water, as it was often unsafe to drink. I contacted ****** ******************** on March 27, 2023 and asked him to send me a bill, and to include me in all communications regarding our well and community systems such as boil water notices. He told me to go to his website and make a payment there. I went to the website and the site asked me to make a "paypal donation" in the amount of my water bill, plus a service fee. I contacted **************** again to be sure that this would in fact, go towards my bill. In a text message he assured me it would. I have not received any bills after this point, although I am supposed to pay $40 per month. On May 19, 2023, I again contacted Mr. ******************** and requested a bill. He did not respond, and I did not receive a bill.When the community receives a boil water notice, I am not receiving the notices, and many community members rely on word of mouth, or ******** posts from neighbors, which often come after the boil water notice is in effect. Several times my children and I have been drinking the water not knowing it was under a boil notice, which is incredibly unsafe. Multiple times, a paper sign has been placed by the mailboxes of the community declaring a boil water notice after the notice has been lifted, causing added stress to families. Water is dirty, often coming into homes brown and full of sediment. Merrill water systems needs to improve its communication immediately for the safety of all people in the community. I do not receive an email, text, call, or post on my property for these dangerous notices. ******************** Water also needs to use fair and transparent billing practices.
