We purchased a truck with warranty from TEC - ******** in May. The next day, my husband hooked up the truck to the trailer and drove off confident in his new purchase and before you know it, he heard a noise... something was not running right. No problem, he said, it has a warranty and I'll take it to the shop. By the time this truck gets fixed, we will have spent more than we paid for it. TEC Equipment deliberately gives you a false sense a security by offering a warranty (that you pay a pretty pennty for) that will pay close to nothing. The truck has been in the shop every other week with one thing or another. We pay close attention to the codes if they pop up and get the trucks asap to the shop. They want to comeback and say that the computer is 100% accurate. Computer glitches happen all the time. There are many causes to this, so don't depend on a computer as the final authority. We've had the truck at the repair shop for several days at a time for at least three /four times in sixty days! Do you know how hard it is to be one truck down, find a repair shop that will work quickly and efficiently, and get back up and going? The warranty company (TruNorth Warranty) will use every loophole to get out of covering certain repairs. TEC doesn't care that they sold you a lemon. We need to get the word out regarding their unethical business practices.Initial Complaint

This location did work on my truck and when I got it back, there were hundreds of flies and still is quite a bit in this truck and I know they did not get in here with every door and window closed. Plus, they first denied that someone walked in the cab of the truck but after I told them that I dont walk in my truck with shoes on and that I leave them in front of my seat, they end of saying that someone probably went back there to deal with the transmission when I know that nothing on the dash has been touched by a mechanic. Also, I had 3 pounds of organic walnuts and they are gone and they are not cheap. No telling what else Im missing in this truck, but most important, is Im on my 3rd day trying to get rid of these flies or whatever they are because they sick blood too and less not talk about what Im spending to get rid of those insects. Also, from time to time, the truck sputters at 3 mph for a few minutes. Ill be writing the BBB too if there isnt a resolve.Initial Complaint

Our trucking business name is Fast Way Express LLC and this is a complaint against TEC Equipment **************** dealership) in regards to a new ***** semi truck we purchased on 6/13/2022 for $196,872.40. After only ****** miles and 216 engine hours, all the electrical modules on the truck stopped working. The truck has been in their repair shop since 9/23/2022, for almost 3 months, and they are unable to repair the truck. They are telling us that the parts they don't have are on national backorder and they don't have an estimated time for when they will have the parts. ***** North America refuses to offer us a replacement for the truck or a refund. This is a new truck, under warranty, it is our only source of income, and we are unable to use it to make a living. We think 3 months is not a reasonable time period for repairs on a new truck under warranty. We paid $196,872.40 for this new truck and we cannot use it because TEC Equipment and ***** NA are unable to repair it. TEC Equipment keeps telling us that they're doing their best in trying to fix our truck, but they failed to return our truck repaired for almost 90 days.Initial Complaint

Tec Equipment is currently holding my vehicle and personal property without any justification. I purchased a commercial vehicle from Ryder on 10/05/21 and after driving off the dealership lot the vehicle immediately overheated and broke down, I contacted Ryder immediately regarding the matter and was referred to Tecequipment for repairs. I dropped off the vehicle to Tec equipment on 10/07/21 after receiving authorization from Ryder to go to said repair shop. Ryder gave authority to Tec equipment in email communication to perform any repairs as part of a warranty that accompanied the vehicle at time of purchase. I never authorized Tecequipment to perform or repair or sign any forms or approved any repairs by any means, the authority to perform repairs and the payment was submitted by Ryder. However, the vehicle was discovered to to have many mechanical problems that resulted in costly repairs. Ryder is secretly communicating with Tecequipment to covertly hide major faults and as a result Teceuipment informed me with a witness present that in order for the dealership to release my vehicle, I need to sign a waiver for Ryder. My failure to sign the waiver form will result in the Tec equipment to lose the third party business. I am currently barred from retrieving my vehicle. The waiver release will force me to cover any current mechanical problems contrary to said warranty. I am not prepared to sign the waiver as doing so will jeopardize my financial situation. I am in current with all my financial obligations for the finance of the vehicle and it is also insured as per contract requirements. I feel like my right to do process is being violated as well as the right to use my vehicle.Business response

As communicated previously, we reached out to ************ regarding his issue requiring repairs on a recently purchased used truck. ************ was able to get a satisfactory repair done at another repair shop. We agreed to reimburse ************ for the repair at a cost of $2,143.53. Reimbursement was processed and ************ confirmed receipt of the funds and thanked us for the assistance. As ************ purchased a used product, we also recommended he consider an aftermarket warranty package to address any future repair issues that might arise over the remaining life of the vehicle. He declined. Upon satisfying the reimbursement mentioned earlier, ************ then sent us two more invoices for repair work conducted at two other repair shops that he requested to be reimbursed. We declined,indicating that our agreement on the previously reimbursed charges of $2,143.53 was considered final. In summary, we had an agreement to reimburse the repair of $2,143.53, we followed through on that agreement and have considered the matter closed. If ************ would like to discuss the matter further,he is encouraged to call our used truck manager, *********************, at the TEC Equipment location in **********, **.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2018 Freightliner from here. I was only able to drive it 2 days ( almost **** miles) before I was advised that I needed $15,000 in repairs. The check engine light was on when I first checked out the *********** was told this would be fixed prior to me picking it up. The knock sensor that **** (salesman) advised was being repaired, was NOT! Turns out in order to get to that, the 1 box needed to be replaced. This is likely why they went back on their word and just reset the light and sold me the truck without making the repairs. I was not aware that they were dishonest until the light came back on, but by then (2 days later) it was too late. When asking **** to speak with someone who is able to help, he REFUSED several times to give me a phone number or email for the manager. Luckily it is publicly available online. I am yet to hear back from anyone other than **** who says he is just the salesman.Business response

Truck was taken to a different shop to assess the second engine light issue. Issue was diagnosed as related to an exhaust leak and it was determined that a 1Box replacement was not necessary.
