I had my mortgage through Freedom Mortgage at the start of COVID upon which I was laid off. I saught the federally supported COVID relief, and made plans to fix and then sell my house. The relief extended through December of 2021, and my home was listed in January of 2022. I had the home under contract February 15th, and scheduled to close March 17th. I made contact with representatives of Federal Mortgage to ensure that there was no action I needed to take to ensure the sale went through safely. A payoff estimate was provided that was more than 14k different from the second payoff amount provided at sale day to the title company, the statement claimed interest, and escrow holdback during covid relief. Then, more than a week after there is another claim for an additional 2.2k as they processed a foreclosure DURING the contracted sale, and did not make these numbers available to anyone. Title company attempted to pay the loan off as contracted, and Freedom mortgage refused ("Not made available") the funds to pay the loan. Now more than a week later are asking for the additional moneys, refusing reasonable explanation to anyone, and holding the sale hostage. I am forced to pay the title company the monies to ensure the sale does not break down, and affect two families depending upon this transaction. I find this deplorable that they take advantage of a veteran family affected by this tragedy for what is chump change to them, and a significant life change for me and my young family. They are not entitled to the 2.2k for the fraudulent and not in good faith effort to foreclose during a sale, along with the ineptitude of their communications and failure to allow reasonable mitigation that would have prevented the additional monies. Had I known that this would have happened, I could have righted the loan rather than lose this money. I seek the STOLEN fees, and perhaps damages. I can provide further background documents showing the poor faith dealings.Business response
