The manager at this dealership out right lied about the listing of this car and price. Today, December 17, 21. We waited for this vehicle to “arrive” on their lot for almost 3 months. It was listed for sale on Car Gurus for over 200 days as being “on the dealer’s car lot”! I have the papers from the website. After talking with them they said it was being delivered/shipped and they would call us when it arrived. They actually suggested I put $1,000 down to hold a car that didn’t even exist on their car lot. After numerous conversations with the the salesman over a month’s time, they finally called me to let me know it was there. I told them I’d have a check from my bank and I’d be there that day to buy it. That’s when things got sketchy. They said that they couldn’t sell it for the advertised price on Car Gurus, which is typically a non negotiable price. Then they said they never had it listed in Car Gurus. After speaking with the salesman, I then spoke with the manager. The manager then proceeded to argue, lie, and then just hang up on me. He first argued about the price after realizing he was wrong, he “changed his mind” and said first he’d rather sell it at auction, THEN HE turned around and said the car was already sold. After calling him out about his numerous lies the manager told me he had the “ prerogative to sell the vehicle to whoever he wanted to and could refuse a sale!” THEN he hung up on me. I’d love to speak with the owner of the dealership to let him know that I won’t be buying a vehicle from this dealership nor will any of my associates, who buy numerous vehicles for their management companies. I am a disabled retired veteran and after 20 years in the military, I’ve purchased dozens of new vehicles. Humes Ford of Curry dealership is the sleaziest and most unethical group of salesman I have had the misfortune to do business with.

      Business response

      12/18/2021

      To whom this may concern,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to this complaint. We were in contact with *** ********* yesterday (12/17/2021) regarding a Bronco Sport that was advertised on Car Gurus. This vehicle was on Car Gurus through a broken link that we were not aware of. Last year, our inventory provider started to list the vehicles that were in our dealer management system that were inbound vehicles. We changed inventory providers from Max Digital to vauto on October 1, 2021. The vehicle *** ********* saw on Cargurus which is sale priced (at its original MSRP) was when the vehicle was ordered. The vehicle had a number of delays, and the MSRP increased from the manufacturer. Because of the computer chip shortage, vehicle values both new and used have increased due to the demand.  This listing according to the complaint was posted over 200 days ago. The vehicle arrived at the dealership on 12/17/2021.

When I was on the phone with *** *********, trying to explain that I only have the vehicle marked up what I would sell the vehicle to another dealer for, he didn't want to listen to what I was saying about the vehicle, he was argumentative and at one point, in a very threating manor, told me that he was going to get in his car and come up and he was going to buy the car. At this point I felt threatened. In part of his complaint, he noted that we encouraged him to leave a deposit on the vehicle which is true. However, BEFORE any deposit is accepted, the pricing including taxes and fees are fully disclosed.

At the time of the call with *** ********* on 12/17/2021 I was unaware that the vehicle was even on Cargurus as it wasn't even posted on our stores website. After I got off the phone with *** *********, I went to cargurus website to see what other new cars of ours are listed and the is a small handful that are on their website, none of which are available anymore as they all have been sold. I called cargurus so they can remove the rest of the new cars that are listed on there, as they are not available.

      Thank you,

      Frank F*******
