I recently purchased a week of unlimited appraisal access to Dr. **** for $999. While that is a significant amount of money, it was worth every cent and more! Not only did I receive individual, detailed responses on each and every item I submitted for her to examine, the response time was impressive. I enjoyed the experience, as well as the investment of time and money, much more than Id anticipated. I would do it again, in a heartbeat!Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

We at ******************************* were so excited that Dr **** was coming to our place last Saturday. We advertised and made snacks with the fan club. As it turned out she didn't call, text email or anything and didn't show. We prepared for weeks. The next afternoon I got an email that said they didn't have time. We were heartbroken that her team would do this. Our expectations will not be the same moving fowardReview from Kh D

I have been following Dr. **** for several years. *** always enjoyed the show and was excited when I heard she was coming to my town. I brought a piece of jewelry that I knew the provenance of - exactly where and from whom it was gifted to my mother in the 70s. I let her know this. I also mentioned that the piece was from *** ************** which is a luxury jewelry designer in *****. First she pretty much made fun of it by asking if I liked it and I said no. Would I wear it and I said no. It is big and not my favorite piece of jewelry. But thats not why I was there, I wanted to know its value. She said she couldnt see the **** on the piece, although it was there big as life. I tried to show her the jewelry box and she dismissed me with anybody can get a box. She said it was worth $38. I was taken aback. She was very dismissive of me. She told me to take it to a gemologist. So, I took it to the North American Gemological Laboratories. For $100 I got the appraisal. It was exactly as I said and was worth $58,000. And it has shown up on 1st dibs for more than that. I have tried contacting her via her website and have heard nothing but a routine I received your question. Very disappointed. Moral of the story is that if you have something you know is valuable, youd better get a second appraisal.Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

Dr. Lori as done several video appraisals for me. I received EXCELLENT value for the price. Her vast knowledge is a tremendous asset! The experience was fun and I received more information than I expected. I already knew much about the items, which was validated by Dr. Lori, who provided additional info on the history of the manufacturer or artist. She also gave tips about collecting these items. She was more than generous with her time and knowledge. I have recommended her to others and will be using her services again.Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

My experience with Dr Lori and her employees has been horrible. She claims to be an antique sword expert but could not appraise my civil war sword, I received an email saying that she could only appraise it in person even after sending her many high quality photos. I decided to try her business again when I wanted to have two of my antique bedroom sets appraised. The first set has been in my family since it was made in the 1920s and had even won a prize at the worlds fair for how beautiful it is. The second set I purchased from the original owner. Both sets are complete matching sets, there is no outside mismatched furniture. I sent her team of "experts" high quality photos of each set. Matt, the employee I was speaking to via email had the nerve to tell me they cannot appraise it because the sets are not matching. I have been buying and selling antique furniture for over 10 years and I can clearly see the sets are matching sets. I even reached out to several other antique appraisers and they all said that the sets are beautiful and obviously matching. Dr Lori's employees were gaslighting me through email saying multiple times "in our opinion it is not matching". They do not know anything and I would not recommend this company to anyone. At first when I contacted them to do an insurance appraisal, they quoted me almost $3,000 which is absolutely outrageous. So I then inquired about her other appraisal package which appraises items online for a flat rate of $60. So at first they had no problem appraising the bedroom sets for $3,000. But then I asked them to do a regular appraisal for $60 it was then they started saying they cannot appraise them because they are not matching sets. Terrible liars and terrible customer service.Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

Hi Danielle, I am sorry to hear this. I reviewed all the email correspondence, and I’d be happy to talk with you at any time. You may contact my office directly. Here, I am happy to address your comments. In the case of your antique sword, if I need to see an object in person because submitted photos do not give me enough information to provide an accurate appraisal, I invite the client to allow me to review it in person. I am sorry if this option is inconvenient, but I must have the necessary information to give an accurate appraisal and sometimes that means seeing the item in person. I always strive to provide accurate information to my appraisal clients. I agree that your furniture is beautiful and valuable based on photos, but in my expert opinion, your furniture is not considered a set for appraisal purposes. For appraisal purposes, your furniture must be evaluated individually by piece. It would be unethical for me to charge you for appraisal services and provide appraisals for these items as a set when they are, in my opinion, clearly not. I believe that my staff and I replied respectfully and truthfully to all your emails. We all are trying to help you. I wish you the best as you pursue obtaining professional appraisal services. I think it's hilarious that 4 of the 5 star reviews were all posted on the same day (one the day prior) so that lets you know they're probably not real customers. Most likely friends or employees :-) I feel like the person with the 1 star review is a little more on point with the business practice side of Dr. Lori. She might be a fantastic person and appraiser, but touting that you don't pay if your item appraises under $59 then sending a "we couldn't evaluate your item based on the photos you sent, so pay $49 to get a video call" is a little fishy and I’m pretty sure it’s a set up. There’s a very sarcastic video of Dr. Lori herself explaining how easy it is to take pics and since she is such an expert, she can “appraise even from photos”. Well, if that's the case, then why send me that you need more info and I have to pay you to get it to you? If she is so amazing that she can use photos to appraise things, she should let you submit everything for free beyond the initial submission!! Pretty sure she’s running a wonderful scam to monetize her appraising skills and hey, more power to her. Just know going in that your item isn’t going to get appraised unless you pay for it...no matter what her website says. I submitted two items about 30 minutes apart, just to see how each one came back. I sent clear pictures for the first item and a great description. The second item had good pictures but not very clear on the marking and again, great description. I only got one email back saying there wasn't enough information for my first submission and I needed to schedule a $49 video call to get her the rest of the pics and info. Never heard a word about the second one which I assume means they saw I had two and thought I'd be a great target for the $49. Like I said, that's fine if that's what you want to do to people, but you should take that "under $59 and it's free" **** down because that, my dear, is false advertising!Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

Hi Julie, Thank you for your comment. On a daily basis, I review photos submitted for consideration for online written appraisal reports. There is no charge to make a submission. I do not ask for payment to review photos. If the object in the photo submitted is not worth the $59 online written appraisal report fee, I tell the submitter that-- once again, at no charge. I reply that the piece is not worth the cost of the appraisal report. I then suggest that the submitter NOT continue with the appraisal process. The video call service is NOT the same service as the written online appraisal service. I am an ethical and respected professional appraiser with 25 years in the business. Thank you for your comment. -- Dr. Lori V********Review from Kacie P

I did unlimited appraisals for a month. The answers were minimal, undetermined, and many were plain out wrong. When confronted with this she contacted me and then asked me to resubmit the ones I still had questions over. I did this, and many of the answers were still vague, left unanswered, such as "unknown" and contradictory to what she had said in other emails. Inferior service indeed. It was not at all what was advertised or promised in the service.Dr. Lori Verderame PhD Antiques Appraiser Response

Dr Lori is amazing….She shares her knowledge and expertise. I have been with Dr Lori for over 5 years, ive watched her videos, I get the free newsletter, I’ve watched her appraisal shows. She is extremely knowledgeable( I appreciate education, experience, knowledge, etc…).I started a little side business from my long time established, highly successful 34 year old business business. I know what it takes to develop, build, establish and run a business, esp as a single woman..I disagree with anything else said that may be misconstrued, Dr Lori works hard to help those who need it. I’ve seen many who think Dr Lori should go pick out items for them to sell for profit, to me they seem to think that reselling is easy, and doesn’t require long hours of education, research, planning, etc….some people seem to feel selling should happen automatically(they may be watching some YOUTUBE channels that make reselling look like a walk in the park)and if it doesn’t they look for someone to do the work for them for free and if this person doesn’t do everything for them for NOTHING their feathers are ruffled. YouTube is not easy, it has its problems, I’ve heard all kinds of things that other creators do to other creators, I won’t support those creators I believe it’s a competition thing….but DR. LORI is very well established, been on many tv shows to support those who are trying to do their best. Thank goodness Dr Lori has a generous heart. Dr. Lori is AWESOME! I’ve been watching her videos since finding her YouTube channel about 7 months ago. She does live appraisals for viewers several times a week for FREE! Any services she (rightfully) charges for are clearly listed on her website. She’s extremely knowledgeable and I’m learning SO MUCH! And pardon my language, but I call BULLSH*T on the prior person’s 1 star “review”. I haven’t given any superchat donations, nor had a paid video call (though I hope to do so soon). Yet last month, I tried for the first time to join the live show for an appraisal and got on. To join live, I realized you have to keep tapping the “try again” button as the virtual “waiting room” fills up fast with so many trying to join at once, and you have to wait for people to leave the queue. I was able to get in, and as soon as Dr. Lori finished appraising a guest’s item live on the show, split-screens of people with their items simultaneously (and immediately) appeared on the show (including mine). And I was thrilled when Dr. Lori chose my Victorian brooch from amongst the items her other guests had! So I can personally attest to the fact that not only are the appraisals on Dr. Lori’s show completely FREE, but nobody is “picked ahead of time”, as there is absolutely NO interaction with her or her staff while waiting to get on. You literally click the link to join, keep tapping “try again” if full, and if you get in, you’ll see yourself with your item on her show. And if you’re lucky, she’ll pick yours. It’s that straightforward. Watch her videos and you’ll actually notice how some guests are caught off guard when she calls on them (because the screen pops up so fast). God bless Dr. Lori. She’s helping so many people & sharing her vast expertise (and humor) for FREE. When people try to denigrate and discredit her, you wonder what ulterior motives or agendas they have. Before criticizing others, remember “Dimming someone else’s light won’t make yours shine any brighter”.
